About this listen

Ty Pennington shares stories from his life and offers a behind-the-scenes look at your favorite home shows!

As a kid, Ty Pennington had too much energy. He was chaotic, bouncing off the walls, and on a first-name basis with the local emergency room staff. Back then there wasn't public awareness of attention deficit disorder yet. People just thought Ty was rambunctious. A troublemaker. What do you do with a kid who just can't sit still? Who can't focus?

But Ty discovered something amazing when he was just a boy: he felt focused when he was building something. He discovered that he loved to work with his hands - to use tools and be creative. He loved to try new things, build and design new things.

In Life to the Extreme Ty shares his remarkable life story. In his characteristic humorous style, he takes you racing through his life with ADHD-infused diversions that will make you laugh out loud. He shares about how he was diagnosed with ADHD in college, and what it has meant to be an advocate for ADHD awareness. He shares about his start as a model and carpenter, and his eventual move to television where he starred in the hit shows Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Trading Spaces.

Life to the Extreme will inspire you. Ty's boundless energy and his sense of humor are infectious. You'll laugh. You might cry a little. And you'll definitely be inspired to change the lives of those around you.

THANK YOU!!!!!

Today I decided to do something very uncharacteristic of a person with ADHD and actually finish some digital products I had already started. I tend to get first down and goal and never make it to the end zone with things I start. So speaking of finishing things, driving back from metro Atlanta to Asheville I decided to start this book because when you have #adhd sometimes you just need to listen to someone that speaks your language and it’s not easy to find. I finished it today while working on those aforementioned digital products and I love, love, loved it. There was so much of his angst and struggle I could relate to. I loved his storytelling method because it computed with how my brain works. The plant analogy made me emotional😭😭😭😭and I could so get it about the relationship struggles. It made me want to binge watch Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, too but the only episodes I found were on YouTube and I don’t like hijacking tv shows from there. It was so nice to feel like somebody else gets my brain wiring. Having ADHD often feels like you belong on the “Island of Misfit Humans.” I’m so grateful for Ty and his advocacy and for sharing his story. We need more of that. So glad he narrated it himself!!!!

Extreme Experience

Loved this audiobook!! A must ‘listen to’ audiobook! Ty is a wonderful writer, story teller and presenter.

Ty reminds us life isn’t always easy, especially, living with ADHD, but if you surround yourself with your family and friends life has a way of working itself out. His writings helped me understand some of own family members better (even myself).

I enjoyed hearing about Ty’s Extreme Experiences in EMHE. He lives out ‘Be the change you want to see in this world.’ He is a Master in Adding Value and Making a Difference to hundreds of thousands of people!

Anyone who has experienced Extreme Makeover Home Edition, first hand, knows that it’s the most unique and extraordinary experience of a lifetime. Hearing the stories is great reminder to be intentional in our every day habits to make a difference in someone else’s life. Now, it’s time for us to ‘keep it going!’

Thank you Ty for sharing a part of your life with all of us! We appreciate you and your dedication to adding value to others!
