About this listen

One of our own...

DCI Evan Warlow believes that murder is a cardinal sin. Even when the victim is a drug dealing, money-laundering criminal. But when a police officer is shot in the same incident at a tranquil beach near Tenby in South Pembrokeshire… Suddenly it’s personal. What appears, on the surface, to be a falling out between partners in crime soon spirals into an operation involving gang warfare and a great deal of money.

But even Warlow is not prepared for what lurks beneath the surface of this most terrible of crimes. The truth, hidden under a tangled knot of lies, will lead him to a terrifying conclusion, and that most dangerous of beings; a killer with nothing left to lose.

Another fast-paced, gripping police procedural that will keep you guessing until the very last word.

All the characters fully realized, not just the lead

This series is engaging in so many ways. An excellent mystery is just the beginning - the team dynamic, the back stories of each member, the lovely Welsh place names and phrases. And all brought to life by an outstanding narrator who is such a pleasure to the ear. I did need to slow the speed to .95 to catch each word more clearly. I didn’t mind at all that the story lasted longer.

Excellent mix of characters and plot.

This book’s plot was very good and the characters continue to engage. Narrator does character voices well but has a repetitive intonation pattern when reading other text.

The beauty of Wales combined with the roughness of modern crime

His words so beautifully illustrate the charm and beauty of Wale, the accents in the reading are just tremendous when you go to Wales you hear those deep baritone hear that sing song when they speak English this is a great representation of the Welsh makes them such a wonderful people

Favorite Series

I love this team. The plot was very good. Listening about the Welsh countryside is a joy even if murder is included.
