About this listen

"A tour de force...London tracks the history of the English capital from the days of the Celts until the present time.... Breathtaking." - The Orlando Sentinel

Here is Edward Rutherfurd's classic novel of London, a glorious pageant spanning 2,000 years. He brings this vibrant city's long and noble history alive through the ever-shifting fortunes, fates, and intrigues of half-a-dozen families, from the age of Julius Caesar to the 20th century. Generation after generation, these families embody the passion, struggle, wealth, and verve of the greatest city in the world.

This story was my long time companion

What a wonderful story. I have been reading his books since Sarum came out and this is one of my favorites. The narrator is very good with the variety of dialects, though his female voices just sound breathy.

Well worth the time!!

Very good story with cool history mixed in. Keeping up with the different families is quite cumbersome at times. Still well worth the time and an awesome performance!

Go back in time and meet people from all ages

I absolutely enjoyed this book. I learned so many things as I followed families through generations and centuries. My only regret is that inevitably the book ended!

Good, not Great

I've read his other books & tho long they captured my imagination & I loved them, but this I just got bogged down in... I have read all of Dickens so I know London has a dark history, but this wore me down & I have yet to finish it. It's just not as good as I wished it to be... purely subjective opinion

Futherford has another winner with London!

Rutherford 's London is as delightful to read as his Sarum! I loved it from start to finish. And wanted more!
