About this listen

This “clever and satisfying” (Associated Press) #1 international bestseller for fans of Kristin Hannah and Jennifer Chiaverini follows three women who are bound together by a long-lost letter, a mother’s love, and a secret network of women fighting for the right to choose—inspired by true stories.

2017: When Angela Creighton discovers a mysterious letter containing a life-shattering confession, she is determined to find the intended recipient. Her search takes her back to the 1970s when a group of daring women operated an illegal underground abortion network in Toronto known only by its whispered code name: Jane.

1971: As a teenager, Dr. Evelyn Taylor was sent to a home for “fallen” women where she was forced to give up her baby for adoption—a trauma she has never recovered from. Despite the constant threat of arrest, she joins the Jane Network as an abortion provider, determined to give other women the choice she never had.

1980: After discovering a shocking secret about her family, twenty-year-old Nancy Mitchell begins to question everything she has ever known. When she unexpectedly becomes pregnant, she feels like she has no one to turn to for help. Grappling with her decision, she locates “Jane” and finds a place of her own alongside Dr. Taylor within the network’s ranks, but she can never escape the lies that haunt her.

Looking for Jane is “a searing, important, beautifully written novel about the choices we all make and where they lead us—as well as a wise and timely reminder of the difficult road women had to walk not so long ago” (Kristin Harmel, New York Times bestselling author).

Rare find

The story is so compelling. I was unsure of how this book would affect me. It was engaging from the beginning and opened my eyes to situations I had only heard about, and hadn’t given much thought to.

I didn't stop Listening

I was a teenage mother at 16. I had could have had a legal abortion in 1980 but chose not to. I listened to this book in one day because it resonated with me on a level of it sucks when you don't have choices! When men are making choices for you and you don't have a voice! it's subjectacation.

Powerful. Book with the current world we live in , it is an important reminder!

It was a wonderful and powerful story. Parts were so sad but I feel like we had to be torn apart to appreciate all that happened as a result. So significant I. Today’s world. Everyone should read it so we don’t forget!❤️

Timely Topic for U.S. Readers

Although this is a work of fiction, it is a cautionary tale at a time when reproductive rights are under assault in so many states.
Young women, who have thought their rights were secure should read this book and learn what their future could be.

The connection btw the characters

Loved the mystery of how the three characters were connected.
Educated by the story line of what women were not allowed to do in the 60’s.

Outstanding!

As an adoptee who I am sure was purchased through the Catholic Church, this book is so insightful.

Gut wrenching story on pro choice in Canada

This audible was well written and I enjoyed all the characters. It was hard to listen to how the women were treated in The maternity homes. The threads that connected characters from decade to decade was well connected and held my interest. A wonderful book. For anyone that has had a miscarriage or abortion it might be too sensitive.
