About this listen

Loss and Redemption at St Vith closes a gap in the record of the Battle of the Bulge by recounting the exploits of the 7th Armored Division in a way that no other study has. Most accounts of the Battle of the Bulge give short-shrift to the interval during which the German forward progress stopped and the American counterattack began. This narrative centers on the 7th Armored Division for the entire length of the campaign, in so doing reconsidering the story of the whole battle through the lens of a single division and accounting for the reconstitution of the Division while in combat.

The book is published by University of Missouri Press. The audiobook is published by University Press Audiobooks.

"A truly exceptional read!" (General David Petraeus, U.S. Army, retired, former Director of the CIA)

"Fontenot's lively writing style highlights his meticulous research in this example of military history at its finest." (Choice)

“This is an excellent study of the topic, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.” (Journal of America’s Military Past)

Phenomenal!!!

Mr. Fontenot is an Maerican Hero himself and his book is one or my favorites on the Battle of The Bulge right alongside "A Time For Trumpets."
Fontenot pays close attention to detail from Commanders orders and discussions to the troops in each division, regiment, and companies as well as the German command and troops.
My Favorite part about this book was his attention to detail in every Division battle in St. Vith. I learned a lot about the 7th armored units, the 9th Armored units and 10th Armored Units along with good details on the Cavalry Squadrons that helped fight for St. Vith. A matter of fact, this book gave me more details on the Cavalry, Tank Battalions, and Armored Infantry Battalions actions that "Sabers Through The Reich" did!! and Sabers was a nod to the cavalry by a Cavalry commander..
Fontenot doesn't screw around! He gives you the real story and you can almost feel what it was like to be alongside the men of the 14th Cavalry Squadron, or the 7th Armored Division or the with Valkgrenadier Division. His writing is Phenomenal!!! READ/LISTEN TO THIS BOOK!!!
