About this listen

Two best friends. One ancient book. Countless adventures.

Naomi Williams, a bright and determined girl with an unshakable faith, and Luke Miller, her adventurous yet skeptical best friend, are just ordinary 11-year-olds living in the quiet town of Everbrook, MI—or so they think. But when they stumble upon a mysterious glowing book hidden in an abandoned chapel, their lives are thrown into an epic adventure they never expected.

The book, The Chronicles of Light, holds the stories of legendary Christian heroes throughout history—yet many of its pages are blank. Why? Because Naomi and Luke have been chosen to fill them. Armed with faith, courage, and their unbreakable friendship, they are whisked away to different times and places, from the underground church in ancient Rome to the secret world of hidden believers in modern-day China. Along the way, they must battle forces of darkness that threaten to wipe out hope and faith from the world.

But as the challenges grow more dangerous and their bond is tested, Naomi and Luke discover that it’s not just their actions that matter—it’s the light within them that holds the key to defeating the darkness.

Faith, friendship, and adventure collide in this heart-pounding, inspirational series that will leave readers on the edge of their seats, cheering for the light to prevail!

I didn't like how it was kinda the same words throughout the book… I think it could use some more excitement!

I wanted to love this book but it seemed very melodramatic and full of cliches. It could use a little more editing, I think. I didn't find the story interesting since none of the characters were developed enough to make me care what happened to them. The plot seems to be that two kids travel through time to spend a few minutes encouraging people in history who are in dire circumstances and are then magically whisked away as soon as the people feel encouraged. The reader is left to conclude that it is this magical visit from time travellers that gave historical Christians their perseverance. The story doesn't even remain on the historical figures for long enough to show what happens to them beyond the hour or two the kids spend with them. I guess it's just a teaser to get kids interested in history? This is one of the rare stories that I couldn't even finish. But to be fair, it is written for young kids, so maybe I should have my kids listen to it and see what they think.

Disappointing

I like the general story idea, but the execution of it was lacking. Writing was repetitive, the characters were somewhat inconsistent and lacked growth, and the tension the characters were supposedly feeling didn’t reach the reader. The writing voice could use an expansion in vocabulary. Ironically the AI narration was the part of the audio book experience that I find lease fault with.

Fun idea, poor execution
