About this listen

Carly Day is on a mission: Make amends to her grown children and everyone else she’s hurt over the years. When she returns to Lilac to help care for her first grandchild, she quickly realizes that just because she’s sorry doesn’t mean folks are ready to forgive. Even Pete Warfield, her son-in-law’s uncle, keeps her at arms’ length, as if he’s afraid she’ll run off again. How can she prove she’s turned her life around?

More knowledgeable about carburetors than car seats, Pete Warfield should have his head examined for agreeing to help take care of a three-month-old baby. After a short marriage decades before, Pete’s been happy with his bachelor existence. That is, until Carly Day returns to town. Working with her around the clock to care for his grandnephew has him wishing for things he thought he didn’t want. Like love and a family of his own.

Love comes home

Love Accepted: A Lilac Novella
: Pamela Ferguson

This is a quick, sweet clean coming home romance. A mother has been estranged from her children for more than twenty years because of bad choices and many regrets. Her first grandchild has arrived and his mom needs help. Carly Day wants to be the one to help. There are many emotional times to get through before the family can be whole.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed by Stephanie Dillard.

Forgiveness earned!

Love Accepted is a poignant and heartwarming story. Carly Day left Lilac many years ago, and kept leaving three more times. Carly's life was very unconventional as she had five children with five different men. Her son, Buck, had a soft spot for his mother and he invited her to come to Lilac, but her daughter, Reo, never got over the hurt of her leaving. Carly is back to make amends with the hope that they can forgive her. At first, Reo is furious and spiteful toward her mother and it made me feel sadness for Carly. She had a lot of help from some of her friends who stood by her side. Pete Warfield, Reo's husband's uncle, was on hand to help with anything Reo needed. It slowly became apparent that there was more to the story of Pete and Carly, and how that played out was the most touching of all.
The narration was beautifully done by Stephanie Dillard. Her dynamic and emotional voice, combined with just the right pacing brought each of the characters to life with their own personality and attitude.

Quick listen about love and forgiveness...

Love Accepted: A Lilac Novella by Pamela Ferguson is another entry into the city of Lilac and it's inhabitants lives. This time around, we hear a bit about Carly Day and Pete Warfield's story. Carly Day has never stuck around. She's really never been there for her kids. Now she's back and Rio just isn't wanting any help from her, though it was her brother that invited Carly Day back into their lives. Pete's always had feelings for Carly Day, though she didn't know it. Now that she's back, it will be interesting to see if she has really changed and has stopped running. Rio was really rough on Carly Day throughout this novella. Yikes! This was a cute, quick listen and it was great to learn more about the residents of Lilac and see how they all tie together.

Stephanie Dillard did a good job narrating the inhabitants of Lilac, as always. She's easy to listen to and I never have a problem getting into a story when she is narrating. I'm sure I will listen to more of her performances in the future! I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

Great Read

Love Accepted: A Lilac Novella was a great read by Pamela Ferguson. Carly nows that she has messed up badly when she hurt others. She is on a mission to make amends with her adult children. She goes to help with her first grandchild but she realizes that making amends will be hard. She is kept at arms length by everyone including her son-in-law's uncle. That is until they grow close caring for the baby. I really enjoyed reading Carly and Pete's story and can't wait to read more by Pamela Ferguson.

It's Never Too Late to Go Home

A woman who had abandoned her home town and her children years before comes home to help care for her infant grandson in this wholesome story about love and forgiveness and finding yourself.
I loved the honest approach the author takes to the issue of broken families. There are no open arms or ecstatic reunions. The relationship between Carly, Pete and her daughter is often halting and painful .. two steps forward and one step back as the broken trust and old pain rear their heads again and again and Carly draws on her faith and a patience born of experience to work her way through the relationships she needs to rebuild.
A bittersweet story that's well worth your time.

Love Accepted

I really enjoyed the narrator‘s voice. That makes the books most enjoyable to me. This book really tugged at my heart strings because as a mom, I can’t imagine ever leaving my children. But I am so glad she was able to come back and make amends and rebuild a life.
