About this listen

Sometimes, the deepest wounds can help you find the greatest joy....

Sergeant Sierra Winters’ life is the military, but when an injury sustained in Afghanistan leaves her future in jeopardy, she must reevaluate everything she believes. The long days of recovery are brutal, but she’s determined to make it through and to find her canine brother-in-arms, Staff Sergeant Rhaegar. Wounded alongside her, Rhaegar’s been released from the Army, and Sierra won’t stop looking until she tracks down the brave German Shepherd.

Noah Jackson, a nurse at the Veteran’s hospital, works hard for his patients and is trying to put his life back together after a painful divorce. When his brother’s close friend and previous commanding officer shows up at the ranch, he wants to help. Sierra’s presence, however, soon has Noah questioning the choices he’s made for his life, and for Kaylee, his seven-year-old daughter.

Sierra’s visit leads to lots of trouble, but sometimes it’s trouble that finally points you in the right direction. And when attraction blooms between the nurse and the patient, they both must decide if love is worth the risk.

Will Sierra stick to what she knows - deeds over heart - or will she learn that love and honor are what matter most?

Growth in struggles

A sweet story of how one can grow into a stronger, better person through adversity.
The narrator of this series did another great job of keeping the listener engaged in the story through her storytelling talents. It is fun to have the second reader in to bring to life the child in the story. I highly recommend each of the stories in this series to anyone who enjoys a sweet clean story of families and personal growth of the characters.

Sweet Contemporary Romance

I loved it!
The narration was definitely my favorite so far!
The story showed growth in the characters, and the deepest connections to faith that I've seen in the series! Lots of talking about praying.
I especially loved the fact it revolved around a woman in the military and it doesn't side step PTSD. But hits both physical and mental healing straight on. It even covers emotional abuse and healing relationships between her and her parents. While the abuse wasn't imparted on purpose, Sierra took her father's attempts at love and protection as emotional abuse and it shaped her negatively with a very distorted view of self worth.

Love and honor are what matters most!
I’ve enjoyed Sierra’s spunk and determination as well as seeing her vulnerability and struggles.
Rhaegar adds charm to the story.

A twist on a soldier’s tale.

This is a sweet story of a military woman who discovered that everything she had believed in her core about her parents and relationships was totally skewed. It took a traumatic injury and lots of talking to get past the many barriers and misconceptions she has. As a woman whose life is the Army, Sierra can only see herself as an officer and soldier. Noah was a dad raising his little girl as a single dad and way too overprotective and judgmental about normal childhood accidents. Each are so afraid of a relationship and what it could mean. She is trying to protect others from hurt , but is she really just afraid of being hurt herself? This is a good look and great insight into a soldier’s mindset, the fact that it’s a woman is a different twist ( and makes her feel like she has to prove herself in everything, perfection is the only option).
The story was actually really good, I wasn’t a fan of the voice the narrator gave Noah, it made him sound pompous and judgmental ( yes he was judgmental in parts, but the whole book shouldn’t feel that way) instead of strong and caring and was distracting from a very good story.
I got this with a code and the opinions are mine.

Good read

Another enjoyable book by Elsie Davis. I have read only one other in this series, and I like that they really didn't seem to be connected. I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything from a previous book. The story was good and squeaky clean.

The narration was pretty good. Adding the little girl's voice for the little girl dialogue was cute.

Dedicated to Love

This was a amazing book. Be warned, you will need tissues. Sgt. Sierra Winters was injured in Afghanistan and is back home to recuperate, but she is missing her K9 dog. She accepts an offer from a fellow military buddy,Tank to come to their ranch to do that. She wants to be useful, but it is hard with her injury. She is also butting heads with Tank's brother Noah. Take the journey, along with Sierra and Noah to see where this next mission takes them.
I was given an ARC of this book by the author and this is my honest review.

Sweet military romance!

Sierra has come to stay with her friend Bruce as she recovers from injuries sustained on the front. She just wants to find her dog, and get back to active duty. Upon coming to the house, she finds the room she was supposed to use already inhabited by Bruce's brother, Noah. Recently divorced, he has come home with his adorable daughter Kaylee as for the interim. After a few adjustments, the family settles in, but there is a definite tension between Noah and Sierra. But as time goes on, they find that the chemistry is strong. Is Noah ready for a new relationship? Will Sierra be willing to give this a try? And what of Kaylee? Talk about romantic! Noah proves to be quite the man, finding the one thing that could possible win Sierra's heart. Sierra is a tough soldier, and she is adamant that a relationship would never work. But there is more in the cards for these two! I loved this military romance, it's the perfect escape.

Rachel Butler continues her fabulous narration of this series. She has become Hallbrook for me, and I enjoy her voices that bring the story to life. Lydia Butler is like a ray of sunshine as she voices Kaylee. Spot on, she creates her character perfectly. Another enjoyable listen!

Wonderful

Another great book to this great series! It's hard to live with a chip on your shoulder and Sierra finally recognizes that. I loved the characters in this book and how the author developed them. To see family wounds healed, acceptance, and what love will cause you to do for others was heartwarming.

Loved the narration in this.
