About this listen
Love Like Fire is a timely, inspiring story of a modern-day Mother Teresa who embodies self-sacrifice and love. Amidst her passionate humanitarian work in Mozambique, Heidi Baker’s husband contracted cerebral malaria and soon after was diagnosed with dementia, the doctors giving him a death sentence.
Heidi and her husband founded IRIS Ministries, a nonprofit Christian ministry. It has expanded to include well drilling, free health clinics that service the poor and sick, feeding programs, primary and secondary schools, and now over five thousand churches in Mozambique and more than 10,000 churches in over twenty nations. The Bakers have been listed among the most influential leaders in world Pentecostalism.
Cassandra Soars relays a true story that embodies faith and healing; the joy of community; freedom from oppression, sexism, and poverty; and what love truly looks like.

God has promised us miracles. Are you willing to do what it takes to see them through? We all desire the favor of God on our lives. We eagerly pray and hope for his miracles, promises, and blessings. But carrying the promises of God often means being stretched, being inconvenienced, and being patient to nourish those promises until it is God's time for them to be born.

Story
Author and revival historian Jennifer Miskov has tapped into an ancient pathway to divine encounter. She has given her life to studying how the greater pioneers of revival experienced dynamic moves of the Holy Spirit, both in their personal lives and in the corporate church. Historically, fasting was never a formula for holiness or a means to manipulate God. In fact, in revival history, “the fasting ones” were actually “the feasting ones”—those who single-mindedly aligned themselves with what heaven wanted to release into Earth.

Story
Doaa Al Zamel was once an average Syrian girl growing up in a crowded house in a bustling city near the Jordanian border. But in 2011 her life was upended. Inspired by the events of the Arab Spring, Syrians began to stand up against their own oppressive regime. When the army was sent to take control of Doaa's hometown, strict curfews, power outages, water shortages, air raids, and violence disrupted everyday life.

Story
The Earth had buckled, and, in that movement, all that was not in its place fell upon the Earth’s children, upon the blameless as well as the guilty, without discrimination. At the end of a long sweltering day, as markets and businesses begin to close for the evening, an earthquake of 7.0 magnitude shakes the capital of Haiti, Port-au-Prince. Award-winning author Myriam J. A. Chancy masterfully charts the inner lives of the characters affected by the disaster

Story
Writer Karla Cornejo Villavicencio was on DACA when she decided to write about being undocumented for the first time using her own name. It was right after the election of 2016, the day she realized the story she'd tried to steer clear of was the only one she wanted to tell. So she wrote her immigration lawyer's phone number on her hand in Sharpie and embarked on a trip across the country to tell the stories of her fellow undocumented immigrants—and to find the hidden key to her own.

Story
Isabel Allende reconstructs the painful reality of her own life in the wake of the tragic death of her daughter, Paula. Narrated with warmth, humor, exceptional candor, and wisdom, this remarkable memoir is as exuberant and as full of life as its creator. Allende bares her soul while sharing her thoughts on love, marriage, motherhood, spirituality and religion, infidelity, addiction, and memory - and recounts stories of the wildly eccentric, strong-minded, and eclectic tribe she gathers around her and lovingly embraces as a new kind of family.

Story
"In this life, I have lost. I lost my husband and best friend. My children lost their father. But Stephen didn't lose his life. He found it." Early one morning, just down the street from the local mosque, gunshots shattered the silence. A young American lay in a pool of blood, murdered by al-Qaeda extremists. When God called Emily and Stephen Foreman to bring the gospel to a Muslim nation where Christianity was illegal, they knew they were being called to a life of sacrifice. "We died before we came here" was their common refrain.

Get out! Run! We must leave this place! They are going to destroy this whole place! Go, children, run first! Go now! These were the final shouts nine-year-old Kim Phuc heard before her world dissolved into flames - before napalm bombs fell from the sky, burning away her clothing and searing deep into her skin. It's a moment forever captured, an iconic image that has come to define the horror and violence of the Vietnam War. Kim was left for dead in a morgue; no one expected her to survive the attack. Napalm meant fire, and fire meant death.

Story
When Dorothy Day died in 1980, the New York Times eulogized her as “a nonviolent social radical of luminous personality...founder of the Catholic Worker Movement and leader for more than 50 years in numerous battles of social justice.” Here, in her own words, this remarkable woman tells of her early life as a young journalist in the crucible of Greenwich Village political and literary thought in the 1920s, and of her momentous conversion to Catholicism that meant the end of a Bohemian lifestyle and common-law marriage.

Clemantine Wamariya was six years old when her mother and father began to speak in whispers, when neighbors began to disappear, and when she heard the loud, ugly sounds her brother said were thunder. In 1994, she and her fifteen-year-old sister, Claire, fled the Rwandan massacre and spent the next six years migrating through seven African countries, searching for safety—perpetually hungry, imprisoned and abused, enduring and escaping refugee camps, finding unexpected kindness, witnessing inhuman cruelty. They did not know whether their parents were dead or alive.

Mother and Father to many- including me!
I am so thankful for the Bakers. Their lives, ministry, legacy, and love have left an indelible mark on all of the above in me. I went to Mozambique to meet with them in 2012, but turns out it is when Heidi got so sick. I didn’t get to meet them. However, I went to Iris looking for the power of their ministry to be added to me/mine and instead came back with the love of Jesus that they so lavishly exude! From intimacy and love of Jesus flows His endless supply of love and power for us and for others. Thank you Bakers for imparting this to me and scores of others the world over! I didn’t have to meet you vis-à-vis to receive this from you. I am forever indebted.

a story of a modern mother Teresa.
put an incredible story of faith and failure and love abounding. The miraculous made so real in a setting so dark yet filled with God's light. brings the reality of the poor in God's love for them. every believer should experience that and even those that don't believe should go and see that love.

Amazing True Story
Inspiring, challenging, engaging. I couldn't put it down. The narrator did an outstanding job, re-enacting events, drawing me in as a first-hand witness. I enjoyed this book tremendously; now I am convinced nothing is impossible with love - God's unlimited, matchless love expressed from one human being to another. I knew little about Heidi Baker, having watched only a few video clips or heard one message. This book unveils more of the depth of power that fuels this supernatural, fruitful life, Now I am personally committed to reach similar depths myself and be used to make a difference in this world!
