His leg is the reason he’s off the SEAL teams, but it’s his heart that hurts the most.
Derek Farley has a lot of time on his hands now, but what he really wants is to get into trouble. If he could just show Remy he didn’t need her, he could perhaps walk away a free man. So what else does a bad-ass former Navy SEAL explosives expert do? Enroll in culinary school in St. Helena! He might make a great pastry chef, if he can get that arrow out of his chest.
Remington Bolt is a crack shot at lethally wounding every man who’s ever tried to tie her down. But her almost forever man comes back, stirring up the pot of sweet tasting memories and mouth-watering fantasies. He’s got her oven stoked. If she’s not careful, she’ll be dessert.
But fate is master chef of all, whipping up a series of encounters that leave them covered in passion as dangerous as molten chocolate. By themselves, they are a recipe for disaster. Together, they manage to rekindle their love amongst embers of the raging Sonoma County Wildfires.

Derek and Remy seemed to have more of an obsessive relationship than a romantic one. After breaking up over some pretty intense issues, they rekindled their romance pretty quickly.
Derek's reason for his career choice after being a SEAL was strange. Derek taking a job that Remy had been warned not to take was never discussed between the two of them. Remy's mother and grandfather being in the book served some purpose, but I am not sure what purpose it served. If they had been left out, I doubt they would have been missed. The grandfather was at least entertaining.
The whole jungle world, winery, wedding with the clingy mother/daughter duo, the emergency back in town, and the unsettled relationship with the former best friend did not tie together for me, at least not smoothly.
I would recommend you read this book and judge for yourself. The book was just ok to me. There were a couple of enjoyable things like the brotherhood the SEAL'S had at the wedding, and towards the end of the book. Also revisiting the guys and Christy on SEAL Team 5.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy.
