About this listen

A man broken by service to his country…

Betrayed by the system who trained him…

A chance at a HEA gone forever, her life slipping through his fingers…

She was going to be Brady Rogers’ forever woman, but she was lost to him thanks to sex traffickers who kidnapped her mission group in Mexico three years ago. After six months pouring over intel, he’d found her, but was prohibited from engaging with the enemy by a fresh OIC, Lt. Rolland Stanley, straight out of the academy via the Hamptons.

Ordered to stand down, he’d taken a round to the hip by sniper fire. Plagued by painful night sweats and seething with thoughts of revenge, he later discovers she’d been murdered in a bloody cartel turf war the next year.

Brady just barely completes his 20 and retires to the green triangle of Northern California to raise his CBDs off the grid, hoping to heal his physical as well as mental pain, but prepared to die in a shootout with the local authorities if it came to that.

He’d done his duty and felt his life was basically over.

Being antisocial wasn’t a problem. He knew he was a danger to everyone, and he could just cruise through life in a hazy fog until that day....

But imagine his surprise when a strange woman calls and tells him Esquivel Rojas, the cretin who took Maggie’s life, was also now living in California. And would he like the opportunity to cap that story? Hell, he didn’t need the ginormous amount of money they were offering him for the live capture.

His biggest problem was going to be bringing in his prey alive!

Find out all the clues that lead to this warrior’s satisfying ending in this action-packed thriller, full of cartels, comrades, and traitors. If you dare!

Unexpected Twists!

Wow! Great story. I was so surprised by the end - won’t reveal it here. Well written and I so appreciated the way Ms Hamilton shows the great camaraderie of these elite military personnel. I really enjoyed this book! Brady is a wonderful character. As always, J.D. Hart brings all the characters to life and adds to my enjoyment of the story! Excellent job!

This book stole my heart!

Oh my goodness! This book stole my heart. The characters Brady and Maggie are complex and know what they want. Are they strong enough to withstand the obstacles in their path? Will they be able to endure and perserver the events that happen? Does true love conquer all? Are they willing to pay the cost/sacrifice? Check it out and see what you think about the story! The narration of this story is fantastic! I love that he can pull me in and keep me there with the nuances of his voice. The story plays like a movie in my head as I listen. The tones and emphasis he uses to portray the emotions, feelings of the characters, places and circumstances make it seem like you are right there with Brady and Maggie. The time just flew by as I listened. I didn't want to stop listening. This story is fantastic and listening to the book kept it on my mind long after it was finished. I will be looking for more audible books from this author in the future.

I Wanted More Brady and Maggie...Narration Was Ok

***Update 11/21/21***
I listened to the audiobook. The narration was ok, but I honestly didn't think it added anything to the book. My thought was that if you prefer to listen to audiobooks, then buy the audio version. If you prefer to read your books, stick with the ebook.

Original Review ***10/10/21***
This really felt more like a tease to me. I kept thinking that there had to be more to this book. No worries. It doesn't end on a cliffhanger. I think I wouldn't have minded as much if it did. I would at least feel like there was more to come.

After everything that Brady and the guys went through, after the emotional pain Brady suffered for years, after wading through the underbelly tracking down Rojas, after having to even be in Stanley's presence, I needed more of an ending.

The story was entertaining. I loved Brady's relationship with Tate. I thought it was great how his former team members came together when Brady called. I thought the mystery lady was an interesting addition. There was suspense, intrigue, danger, and mystery. There was a hint of a romance with Maggie.

I would go with 3.5 stars. I honestly was just so disappointed at the way the book ended and that was all, after everything endured to reach that point.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advance Reader Copy of this book.

A good addition to the series

In this audiobook , we get the latest story in the Shadow SEALs series. It is engaging, though I found it to be a little different, both for the series and the author.
The story centers around former Navy SEAL Brady Rogers. A man with deep emotional scars and a battered body. In his last mission , one run by an inept leader, he lost the love of his life to Esquivel Rojas, a sex trafficker who had kidnapped her. It was also the one that ended his career.
Nowadays, living in isolation with only the company of his dog ,Tate, Brady is still having nightmares and dreams of Maggie May.
A broken man, he never thought he would get revenge. Until a nameless woman calls him offering him a chance to get his hands on Esquivel. She wants Rojas alive and has offered him one million dollars. A trusted team of former SEALs is formed.
This is an actioned packed story filled with interesting characters . It’s also a reminder of the tough situations these brave men endure in order to keep our country safe. As well as the reality of sex trafficking.
As always JD Hart did a great job with the narration and voices.
