About this listen

As a private banker working for the largest bank in the world, UBS, Bradley Birkenfeld was an expert in Switzerland's shell-game of offshore companies and secret numbered accounts. He wined and dined ultrawealthy clients whose millions of dollars were hidden away from business partners, spouses, and tax authorities. As his client list grew, Birkenfeld lived a life of money, fast cars, and beautiful women, but when he discovered that UBS was planning to betray him, he blew the whistle to the US government.

The Department of Justice scorned Birkenfeld's unprecedented whistle-blowing and attempted to silence him with a conspiracy charge. Yet Birkenfeld would not be intimidated. He took his secrets to the US Senate, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Internal Revenue Service, where he prevailed. His bombshell revelations helped the US Treasury recover over $15 billion (and counting) in back taxes, fines, and penalties from American tax cheats. But Birkenfeld was shocked to discover that at the same time he was cooperating with the US government, the Department of Justice was still doggedly pursuing him. He was arrested and served 30 months in federal prison. When he emerged, the Internal Revenue Service gave him a whistle-blower award for $104 million, the largest such reward in history.

Read Shell Game After

Great book. After you’ve read this read Shell Game by Scott Bennett. It’s goes even further to what was in these accounts and who’s who. Interesting BB never mentioned him from their time together in Club Fed, Bennett does.

Explosive revelation!

I couldn't stop listening to this amazing book. I laughed many times and really enjoyed the book. l plan to start looking at Bradley You Tube interviews. Thank you Bradley for risking your life to expose the serious corruption we see in the banking industry. l notice Papua New Guinea Prime Minister has recently accused UBS of corrupt activity in their country! The ripples keep rolling since your rock fell on UBS AG Switzerland!

Worth the time

Yes, the author presents his story with a stomach twisting dose of self-importance that might make you want to move on to the next book but the underlying story is worth the time and effort.

Exciting Brave

I kept thinking I wish I were this brave. It’s not a surprise how corrupt powerful people are but to have such a detailed account of a first hand witness was incredible. Sadly it shows the dept of justice has been corrupt and for a long time. I am not at all a finance person and still found this riveting.

Fantastic!

At first I did not really care for the book, but that was mostly because the author seemed a bit full of himself and I was a bit jealous of his lifestyle...
But man that story is an eyeopener! Fantastic book overall.

So there is not a good figure out there

It is never good to be a criminal, even if the laws aee subject to different interpretation. But if you make it too big to procecute, you may seemingly have a chance. That's how the Swiss built is banking industry.

Great story

An excellent story about how dysfunctional / corrupt our government is. Well worth the read, think about how you vote, not that it really matters, they all seem the same
