About this listen

Allow an old fidget of a duke to run her life?

Ah, the devil she would!

Miss Felicia Easton, holed up happily at Easton Manor, was quite content with her unchaperoned state, thank you very much. The last thing she needed was to be summarily fetched to see her ogre of a guardian, the elderly Duke of Somerset.

And so she fled with her childhood friend, Scott - only to run into a highwayman!

Thank heavens Glen Aston happened along when he did, insisting the two runaways recover from their shock at a local inn.

But it was some time before the flirtatious Felicia and the highly susceptible Ashton realized they had more in common than a chance encounter in the countryside, for the Duke of Somerset had passed away, and Ashton was now Felicia's guardian.

And this guardian didn't appreciate being bamboozled by a slip of a girl, lovely though she might be!

Excellent!

Well its been a while since I've truly enjoyed a audio book without a bad audio track, lousy narrator or a plot to make me fall asleep. This was a joy. Stevie Zimmerman excelled as usual. The characters are vivid, the story entertaining and the romance...... romantic!
No complaints!

HEAT FACTOR Very very low except for one well written short scene.

suspense, drama and passionate romance

Felicia is contented in her inherited Easton Manor and the story starts two months from her 21st birthday and her becoming an independent woman free from guardianship of the old Duke of Somerset. When she is informed by the Duke that he will be going to take her to London, she fears his motive which she believes is to marry her off to one of his sons before her birthday that way he can gain her wealth. With the aid of her best friend from childhood, Scott, she plans to run away to London and stay with his Aunt for a London season. But on their the way, Scott sustains an injury from a highwayman and they get rescued by Glen Ashton, the new Duke of Somerset. None of them reveal their true identity While staying at the Inn for Scott's health to improve. The Duke takes them under his wing and pays for everything in addition to staying on to make sure she is escorted by him to London safely. Felicia falls in love with the Duke, obviously :). When all is revealed by the Duke's sister's arrival Lady Daphne at the Inn, Felicia is forced to go to London and allow the Duke to give her the season. Somehow no one will do for her since she is already in love with the young Duke. I enjoyed reading this book and the suspense, drama and passionate romance was nicely done. I find that it was well worth my credit.

The type of heroine I love to see!

Would you consider the audio edition of Madcap Miss to be better than the print version?

This was my first (that I can remember) book by Claudy Conn ,author, and my second time listening to Stevie Zimmerman, narrator. Personally, I don't think that a printed book or ebook can be compared to an audio book. I believe they totally complement one another. The author creates the characters and their personality, the story....the plot, but then a good narratorbreathes life into the characters by giving them voice with their cadence and accent, pronunciation, of the different languages.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Flip was probably my favorite character because she was spunky and independent, however, all of the other main characters were wonderfully defined and executed.

What does Stevie Zimmerman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Stevie Zimmerman and Claudy Conn fully deserved 5 stars for this audio collaboration. I fully enjoy it and would recommend not only the book itself, but the audio version. Audiobooks give me more freedom to multi task while still listening and enjoying an excellent story.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I really felt the disappointment Flip experienced from time to time with the fluctuations of her emotions relating to her situation and love.
