About this listen

Years of experience as a magician taught Tim David that real magic is all about words, and the way they influence the minds of the audience. What sets a professional magician apart from an amateur are people skills like communication, influence, and engagement - skills that are also effective in the workplace. By applying seven "magic" words in a business setting, David offers tools for effective and persuasive communication. You will learn:

  • The secret word that Harvard psychologists discovered is the key to unlocking human motivation
  • How one very special word (spoken only inside your mind) mysteriously has a profound positive impact on those around you
  • The number one mistake that managers make during 1-on-1's, and the one simple word that can fix it all
  • What Dale Carnegie dubs "the sweetest sound in any language"
  • How one tiny word can instantly change someone's mind for the better
  • The single word that an in-depth study of thousands of hours of call center recordings revealed as the quickest way to reduce differences and calm people down
  • How the infamous "But Eraser" works and why so many people mess it up
  • The REAL magic behind the word "thanks"
  • The seven words: Magic Word #1 - Because Magic Word #2 - "Name" Magic Word #3 - If Magic Word #4 - But Magic Word #5 - Absolutely Magic Word #6 - Thanks Magic Word #7 - Help

7 Magic Words that helps in everyday life.

Where does Magic Words rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I replayed it a few times because I really found that it works and is sometimes strange how simple but yet profound those words are.

Which scene was your favorite?

Don't really apply to this book but I guess if I had to choose one. It would be Magic Word #6 - Thanks

What’s an idea from the book that you will remember?

That the simplest words are the most powerful if there are used properly.

Any additional comments?

Here are the seven words: I post them because even when I listen to the book I sometimes forget one of them. No matter how many times I read it I still need help to remind myself what they are. Magic Word #1 – Because Magic Word #2 – "Name" Magic Word #3 – If Magic Word #4 - But Magic Word #5 - Absolutely Magic Word #6 - Thanks Magic Word #7 - Help (less)

Very informative from start to finish. Highly recommended in a world that is vastly decreasing in human interaction

Uplifting

I have enjoyed Tim and David for quite a while, so I bought this audiobook. I love it, many pithy truths. there is a lot of common sense, but maybe it is not that common. For example, the chapter on gratitude seems obvious to me, but it surely is not too many people. Good stuff!

Great Book

This book is really insightful, the chapter on 'but' is awesome stuff. There are actually more than 7 words in the book that are discussed. The only criticism I have is the chapter regarding YES. The author falls into the trap of associating agreement with 'yes' and disagreement with 'no'. If we both come to the same conclusion about a question, and the answer is 'no' - haven't we just come to an agreement? Of course we have. Put another way, have we come to a disagreement? ..... Did you see what I just did there?

Surprisingly Great!

I have read many self help books, business books, sales books and biographies... All in effort to become a better leader and better business professional.

This book is short and to the point. Which is a huge plus sometimes.
The words and explanations given are there and make sense to the listener.
Doesn't flow like a an for the writer although you do learn from it that he coaches for a living.

I am happy with this book and see myself hearing again in the future. I don't completely agree with the price tho, but happy I used a credit for it.

Great for everyone, a must for marketers

It's one of those books that make you say, "yes!" I went through this book twice immediately because it's that important. I rank it right up there with Cialdini's "Influence," and will definitely go through it many more times. Thank you Tim David for this book and your work.
