Georges Joseph Christian Simenon (1903 – 1989)

Georges Joseph Christian Simenon (1903 – 1989) was a Belgian writer who claimed to have slept with 10,000 women in his search for "la femme." His literary output was nearly as prolific yet always quite good.

Great intertwined plots; wonderful characters

The narrator was very good - I never had trouble identifying the character he was voicing. Maigret's compassion for everyone except pompous asses is almost heart-breaking in this novel.
