Publisher's summary

They are the bad boys of Brazos Bend: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John Callahan.

New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly best-selling author Emily March invites listeners to travel from Eternity Springs to Brazos Bend, the small hometown of the Callahan brothers snuggled deep in the heart of Texas.

Members of Mark Callahan's old military unit are being murdered. To discover who's responsible and why, the former intelligence officer must partner with the only team member more dangerous than he is...Annabelle Monroe, his ex-wife.

Now a private investigator, Annabelle would rather trade her pistol for a slingshot than work with Mark again. But a shattered heart is no excuse to avoid a reunion when lives are at stake.

Together, she and Mark go hunting a killer. Long days and steamy nights make it impossible to deny the desire still burning between them, but the reasons for their messy breakup haven't changed. The bravest man she has ever known is still afraid to risk his heart.

But when the killer's trail leads to Brazos Bend and everything Mark holds dear is at stake, will he finally take the leap? Or will it be too late?

"To call the mood between her and Mark strained ..

"To call the mood between her and Mark strained was like saying the weather in hell was rather warm."
We met Mark in books 1 and 2. He is he twin brother of Luke (book 1). In book 2 we learn some of his past but it is brought up again in this book and is more detailed. While on a mission with his brothers to rescue a hometown girl from her bad choices, Mark stumbles upon his current but estranged wife. They are still married but haven't seen each other in many years - after he turned down her one desire and request of him. He offers her a divorce, she accepts and they go their separate ways; until their old unit "The Fixers" along with their families are being picked off one by one. Mark and Annabell pair up to find the killer(s).
This story takes them to Annabell's home in Kansas and soon after, forces Mark to confront his past and present.
There are tears, babys, fathers, sons and so many feels with this story.

Great story!

Would you consider the audio edition of Mark: The Callahan Brothers to be better than the print version?

Equally terrific!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Tough choice. I'll go with Mark though since this is his story.

Have you listened to any of Jeffrey Kafer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to the other books Jeffrey Kafer has done in this series of Emily March's. Equally good.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Action packed family drama

Any additional comments?

Another great addition to the Brazos Bend Series.

A Real Hit Series!

Emily March has done an outstanding job on this series. The non stop adventure and intrigue coupled with lots of laughs and gaffes would make this series about brothers and their special women great. But, throw in the hot romance in each book and it hits the top of the charts in my books.

A wonderful ending for this series

Who was your favorite character and why?

One of the things I love about this series is that not only the male characters are strong individuals, but that the female characters are represented as strong individuals with a brilliant minds.

Any additional comments?

I have loved the previous audiobooks in this series and this one did not disappoint. A series, based on the Callahan brothers. Brothers that not only have a strong bond , but they also share their dislike of their Father. Now each of them has served their country and are respectable men. This is Mark’s story . He was in the military and when a member of his unit dies, the surviving ones attend the funeral. That includes Annabelle who has a history with Mark. At the funeral they realize that the death might not have been accidental and they are determined to find the killer. While the plot is complex , filled with suspense, secrets kept from family and friends, intrigue, romance and dangerous situations, the underlying plot is even more complex. The author shows us that the actions of a parent will affect the individual as an adult. That the death of a loved one can affect someone so deeply, that they avoid loving anyone for fear of losing that person. But also, that love and trust can and does conquer all.I am sorry to see the series end, and in my mind have a book dedicated to John, the brother these men lost . Only a talented and gifted author can have a reader, in this case me, having those thoughts..I was gifted this audiobook. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

A Bit Much

The main characters can’t keep their hands off each other. Their over the top continuing sex impaired the story line. Of all the Callahan brother’s stories, this is the weak link.
