About this listen

From the best-selling author of Queen of Cowboy: regrets and old heartbreaks are unearthed in this sweeping love story as hometown sweethearts get a second chance at love - and being a family.

Retired combat medic Jesse Ryan hasn’t been home much since he enlisted twenty years ago. Now he’s headed back to Texas to help take care of his aging foster parents and run Sunflower ranch. But when he gets there, he finds his parents’ live-in nurse is Addison Hall, his high school best friend and the woman he always regretted leaving behind after their one steamy night together before he shipped out. He’s not at all surprised that their chemistry is still sparking, but Jesse is shocked to learn Addy gave birth to a little girl about nine months after he left - his little girl.

Addy has her hands full as a single mom of a nineteen-year-old daughter who suddenly wants to rebel at everything. The last thing she needs is Jesse Ryan complicating her life even further, especially since she’s always had a crush on the handsome cowboy. But the more time she spends with Jesse, the more she wonders what might happen if they finally let their friendship blossom into something more and became the family she’d always hoped for.

Includes the bonus novella Small Town Charm for the first time in print!

Thank you for our cowboy stories back

I have been missing these stories and characters by c. Brown. I love a wholesome story! Intimate scenes that spare details. I was annoyed with the daughter character but I guess thats how the author intended. I cant wait for the next book in this series!!!

Good story but the narration...

I enjoyed the story but the narration got on my nerves. It was almost jerky and the daughter's voice was horrible. The story was good, but because of the narration I couldn't wait for it to be over.

Hard to believe moments

There were a few moments that were hard to believe - someone keeping a big 19 year secret and the other person letting it go easily is one. A few disjointed spots where I had to rewind to see if i had accidentally skipped something.

Another great story by Carolyn Brown.

Chelsea Hatfield is one of my favourite narrators. When I see those two names togetherI know I’m in for a good read. The icing on the cake is that do you know that you have another two good reads coming down the pipe when she writes brothers number two and number threes story!

Kept my interest

In this age of predictable story lines there were enough twists to keep it interesting.

A good look at what family/friendship should be. Great read that was easy to follow.

Great story, terrible narrator

I almost stopped listening to this a couple minutes in because of the narrator’s voice. It is harsh and grating and doesn’t change throughout the book. I am glad I kept listening because it is a delightful story. It could just have been so much better with a different narrator.
