About this listen

Over the last two decades, Eddie Bravo has been at the forefront of revolutions we've seen in the arts of fighting, comedy, and podcasting. But he wasn't alone in his journey.

For just over a decade, James Watson and Eddie Bravo were inseparable: musical partners, work colleagues, roommates, and best friends. From metal to rap, our protagonists worked to master the art of music together.

Through the story of these past experiences in the pursuit of musical mastery, the listener will get to intimately understand Eddie Bravo and see how those experiences in his youth spent in music made him the man and martial artist he is today. Through the narration of our author, we get the complete picture of the private man behind the Eddie Bravo public persona.

I was looking forward to this as a new 10p student but it missed the mark

So came into this looking forward to learning about the 10th planet family tree and the history of how 10p came to be. I knew I wasn’t going to get much considering the title of the book. But I mean the amount of COVID talk vs actual story beats was a lot. Don’t get me wrong I fully understood that COVID had a big impact in this story but what i thought only needed a few paragraphs in a chapter ended up being a good amount of back tracking to talk about COVID every other chapter in seemed like. I do hope Eddie does a book going more in detail about 10p history and more in his life story. All and all I couldn’t give the book more then 3 stars

A story of friendship and perseverance

Just finished #masteringthemetal by Zack Moore. I think it’s important to note that I am not a fan of Metal music so I wasn’t sure what I was getting into. This book surprised the hell out of me. Masterfully written and narrated by Zack, it is a masterclass in writing. I very much enjoyed learning more about the history Eddie Bravo and 10th Planet and his best friend James and their journey together. To me this book used Metal music as a backdrop to share a story of a life long friendship that was rooted in perseverance and innovation. Very well done and I hope to read more from Zack in the future.

BJJ, Music, Los Angeles Lore, and Mortality

Moore finds an amazing thread in disparate subjects that brings together a story of friendship and fortitude resulting in an inspirational journey through the lives of Bravo and Watson. I can't recommend this strongly enough!
