About this listen

Look away if you want to live....

My life is a giant crap pile with a cherry thrown on top. I'm an immortal woman cursed to kill people with just a glance. And now I've been kidnapped by three mouthwateringly sexy gargoyles, who I'm pretty sure want me dead.

But it gets better....

While I'm trying to make the best of being a prisoner, guarded by yummy eye-candy, I'm also being dragged on a dangerous mission. One that a beautiful heroine might survive, but given that I'm a murderous monster, I'm pretty sure is going to end in my death.

Things don't look good for me. But then, that's not unusual. What is? I think I'm not just risking my life this time, I'm risking my heart. And that's one thing that even monsters fear.

Medusa's Destiny is a full-length reverse harem romance with a sarcastic heroine, three gorgeous gargoyles, and a tale full of twists and turns. But be ready for a long night of listening, because these gargoyles are stone-hard.

Sex And Gargoyles, Oh My

Medusa's Destiny: A Why Choose Romance, Monsters and Gargoyles, Book 1 was a fun book, but I found it slightly repetitive. The book is filled with monsters and gargoyles and lots of sex. Sex with "humans", with river sprites, and with stone grotesques'. The acts are performed solo, with only two beings and with multiple partners with every orifice being penetrated. With all that it hard to imaging that the book is mildly boring, but not everyone can write a titillating sex scene (at least everyone had a happy ending).
The narration was excellent, and helped raise the book to another level.
I was given a free copy of the book at my request for an unbiased review.

Medusa’s Destiny

I read this book in the past and wanted to read it again but didn’t have time. This audiobook was fast paced and fun.

Was Vastly Disappointed. Feels like a first draft

** I was given a free copy of this book for review purposes, my review is voluntary and unbiased**

First what I liked about this book, 1 The narrator did an admirable job with what she had to work with, her voices and characterizations were quite good. 2 Medusa was at least a sympathetic character,

Next the problems, Many and varied. I like a good paranormal romance and/or fun smut novel, but a good romance requires characters with personalities. The only personality traits of Byron, our first male lead is that he has a cock the size of a baseball bat and that he is an unmitigated asshole. Our introduction to him is that he kidnaps Medusa, threatens to rape her, then flies off with her against her will naturally, and then is constantly pissed that she isn't nicer to him. I swear this reads like it was written by an Incel. Which, if more was going on this could have only been a moderate irritation, but they spend half an hour or so on traveling completely alone with Her being like 'so what are we doing' and Him refusing to answer.

Okay but maybe the general plot was better? It might have been, except that by the time I gave up on this book like 1.5 hours in. They were still only speaking in vague terms like "there is a problem we need you to fix" like what "you'll find out later" so I have no idea if a plot ever emerges but the first part of this book was alternating between boring and and infuriating.

The sex scenes were hot surely? There weren't many by this point and the sexual content was rife with unispired metaphor, Hardly a damning indictment for the genre, but when the angst and sexual tension seems to be the backbone of your story in the absence of other qualities, it should probably feel dramatic and engaging instead of rote.

So yeah I gave the story 2 stars because I was feeling generous and didn't finish it so maybe it picks up and earns another star but it really should get maybe 1.5 stars, Really the only saving grace was Marie Smiths voice acting.

Not 4 me .

I was given this audiobook free of charges & in return I offer my unbiased opinion & review . Medusa can turn anyone to stone with just a glance . I enjoy reading reading fiction , but even fiction needs to be a little bit plausible . I didn't finish this audiobook , I was gone when Medusa went on about a gun pointed at her . " She looked at one of them who had pointed a gun at her , sure bullets are fast but as Medusa said , they are not as fast as me . Really ? The story might have got better the deeper one delved deep into this story but from what I've heard I doubt it could get better for me . The narrator sounded very good .

They had me at Gargoyles!

Medusa's Destiny is book 1 in the Monsters and Gargoyles series. The moment I saw Gargoyles, I was all about giving this book a listen. Gargoyles are my jam. This is my first book from this author. It won't be my last. I enjoyed the creativity the author showed in the book.

The story is about Medusa, who was once mortal but was cursed by the Goddess Athena over 2,000 years ago to become a monster who turns men to stone, and 4 Gargoyles named Byron, Harold, Forrest, and Marcus. The Gargoyles kidnap Medusa, thinking she is nothing more than an evil monster, and plan to use her to accomplish their intended missions and then kill her. But once they meet her, they realize that things are not as they assumed them to be.

The book is Reverse Harem, insta-lust, and full of hot and sexy scenes. It is told in the multiple POVs of Medusa, Byron, Harold, Forrest, Marcus, and Edgar (who is Byron's dad).

The audiobook is semi short at only 5 hours and 26 minutes duration. I wish there would have been more to their story. Especially during the 6 month gap between chapters 24 and 25. I enjoyed all of the adult scenes but I feel like they kind of took over the book and we didn't get enough actual story and action. Also, with the group adult scenes, without going into specifics or getting my review bounced for adult content, I found that they weren't really believable and that kind of bummed me out. Each time it was the 4 guys and her I found myself noticing things that just weren't possible based on the description as well as the sheer size of the guys and how tiny she was. Plus it almost seemed at times as if the author was trying to make the scenes more gratuitously erm... x rated than genuine.

There were a few minor editing mistakes that I noticed but without having the book to look at I can't really speak to the editing. One thing that was really obvious though was that a sentence (in the final chapter during a group scene) was written twice but said slightly different and they were back to back. So obviously the author meant to swap them out but both got left in.

I liked the narrator for the most part. She had excellent pacing, good tone and clarity, and a pleasant voice. I struggled though because besides the female POV, there were 5 other POVs that were all males and the narrator used the same voice for each of those male POVs. I felt like I had to pay extra attention to keep the POVs straight and more than once I had to restart the chapter so that I could hear the heading to know which POV it was. Perhaps adding a male narrator would have really elevated this audiobook.

The second book was setup toward the end of this book and it sounds as though we will be revisiting this Gargoyle sanctuary and hopefully get to see these characters again. I'm definitely interested in continuing this series. Medusa's Destiny was a lot fun and as I said earlier, creative. I can't wait to see what happens next with Gargoyles and Merpeople.

Hotter the Expected

I was caught off guard by this story a little bit, in a good way, because I don't feel that the summary is representative of the story. Nonetheless, I was surprised at how the guys were able to break through Medusa's protective shell, emotionally. The author did a great job of making us care and drawing us in with an interesting plot, in addition to the steaming bits. I liked the twist on Medusa's story and was captivated all the way through.

The narration was excellent and was perfect for this story. She captured Medusa's attitude and nature so well and made this a smooth listen.

I've read this book at least 3 times before getting it on audible. I was not disappointed in the narration and enjoyed every minute.

Meh..

The premise is good but unfortunately it's pretty flat. Hard to connect with the characthers as they are very one dimensional. Probably would have been better if there hade been a male narrator too, as the book is written from different POVs.

❤️ Medusa and her Gargoyles ❤️

This is such a unique spin on Greek mythology!! I loved this book. Although this is book 1 in a series, it can be listened to as a standalone. There is no cliffhanger and a very nice HEA. The premise is the gargoyle community is dying out and they figured out that mating with “monsters” will potentially save their race. Medusa is the first monster they find and the next book will probably be a mermaid which will most likely feature in book 2. I highly recommend this listen. Interesting and steamy story with great narration.
