About this listen

How to Improve Your Memory & Increase Your Brain Power in 30 Days focuses on methods that can help individuals improve their memory in a relatively short period of time.

The author starts out pretty simply with a definition of what memory is and then progresses into the various methods that can be effectively used to improve memory. The audiobook is appropriate for those individuals that are interested in learning some tried and true methods that can be used to improve memory. In our fast paced society there are an ever increasing number of things the need to be retained and any method that can be used to improve it is extremely advantageous. The listener does benefit from what the author has opted to divulge and the techniques can easily be understood and executed right in the home. Overall the audiobook is a great point of reference for memory improvement.

About the author: Raised in a home where learning was encouraged Jason Scotts was exposed to quite a number of things form an early age. As he matured he was exposed to even more things until it came to a point where he was able to follow up on his own interests. As such he developed an interest in memory improvement among other things.

Jason was interested in learning everything that he could about improving memory as he was finding that he was challenged with remembering certain things. He did the necessary research and found quite a few ideas that he tried; some worked well and some not so well.

This led him to start working on another book that would just highlight all the ones that he found worked for him and his friends that he had asked to try it as well. The greatest thing is that these methods would have shown some level of success in just a month.

Useless - Not a memory improvement book

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This book has no actual memory techniques. The tips are relegated to taking certain vitamins, breathing exercises, and "you should work puzzles". The book description reads: "The audiobook is appropriate for those individuals that are interested in learning some tried and true methods that can be used to improve memory."BEWARE: NOT ONE SINGLE MEMORY TECHNIQUE IS ACTUALLY TAUGHT OR DEMONSTRATED. He did spend about 60 seconds on the "peg method". Even that, however, he referred to a memory technique. He did not actually discuss it, or better yet, actually TEACH something. The Title of this book is completely misleading. There are no Techniques. The Tricks are eating the right foods. And the Exercises involve different types of breathing. Frankly, the biggest trick is sucking you in to buying the book. The "Ultimate How-To Guides"? Absolutely not. If this is the Ultimate Guide to memory improvement, well, I'm sorry, I can't remember what it was I was just trying to remember. Amazon/Audible should actually do some real vetting of the material. Now, if you want to dramatically improve your memory, I would buy "Mem0ry Impr0vement" by R0n Wh1te (also on Audible). You will be instructed in a very practical, logical manner in at least 10 actual memory techniques, each one building on what was learned in the lesson before. And, guess what? You will actually memorize something while listening to R0n's book. R0n's techniques are simple, intuitive, and well grounded. You WILL memorize a 70 digit number, poem, faces and names, sales presentations, and a whole host of other things that you never thought possible. And, it's easy. The capper? That book was something like $2.36 which makes this book at $3.00+ a joke.

What could Jason Scotts have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Actually live up to the title. Lots of buzz words for a good "Google Search" hit, but no actual material to speak of.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

The narration didn't matter. There was nothing to tell.

Any additional comments?

I will be asking Audible for my money back on this.
