About this listen

Free from those who would seek to make him their pawn, Kyle is now able to seek his own destiny.

His team is shaping up around him, but becoming divine has given him a larger view of things.

He never asked for any of this but can he turn his back on all of creation? That may very well be what is at stake. His relationship issues may just have to take a backseat.

But let his foes beware, if a team isn't enough then the war god shall raise an army.

This series just keeps getting better and better.

Although I wasn't as impressed by this series, at the start, like I was with his Descent and Law series, Burke has pulled it off.
I usually like to listen to a book more than once before I write a review but I don't think I need to this time.
I can't wait for the next books in this series to come out in audio. What new powers will our MC get? How long will it take him and his crew to beat the Void Wraiths and their minions? Will the other Gods join him or get destroyed? (Did a God get destroyed in this book?)
Burke keeps on producing great stories/worlds to escape into and the narrators bring it to life for us.
This is one of those series that I think I'm going to have to relisten to each time a new book comes out just to immerse myself totally.
If you like harem LitRPG that is great story telling you will enjoy this series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

War God for Hire #3: Mercenary

Introduction:
From the frozen heart of HowlStrom, where the relentless winter reigns supreme and the magic of ice courses through my veins, I, Kiba Snowpaw, the Alpha Ice Wolf, present my reflections on a tale that intertwines destiny, divinity, and determination. As the icy winds whisper tales of valor and magic, I delve into the narrative of "War God for Hire #3: Mercenary" by David Burke.

Basic Plot Summary:
Kyle, once a pawn in the hands of fate, now stands free, carving his own destiny. As he embraces his newfound divinity, his perspective broadens, revealing the vast tapestry of creation. With a team forming around him, he grapples with the weight of responsibility. Can he truly turn away from all of creation? The stakes are monumental, and personal dilemmas might need to be shelved. For if a team proves insufficient, the war god is prepared to summon an army.

Analysis/Evaluation:
Burke masterfully crafts a tale that delves deep into the complexities of power, responsibility, and the eternal struggle between personal desires and greater good. The narrative is a testament to the resilience of the spirit and the lengths one would go to protect and preserve.

Characters:
Kyle stands as the beacon of this tale, a character whose evolution from a mere mortal to a god is both awe-inspiring and heart-wrenching. His internal struggles, juxtaposed with the external challenges, add layers to his character, making him relatable and admirable. The supporting cast, each with their unique personalities and roles, further enriches the narrative, adding depth and dimension.

Structure:
The story unfolds in a structured manner, with each chapter building upon the previous, escalating the tension and stakes. The narrative flow is seamless, guiding the reader through a rollercoaster of emotions and revelations.

Impact:
The tale resonated deep within my icy soul, echoing the challenges, dilemmas, and triumphs that beings across realms face. It serves as a reminder of the indomitable spirit that resides within each of us and the sacrifices one must make in the pursuit of a greater cause.

Hook and Thesis:
The allure of the story lies in its intricate plot, philosophical undertones, and the moral dilemmas that challenge the reader's perceptions of power, responsibility, and sacrifice. The central theme revolves around the concept of divinity, its acquisition, and the moral and ethical challenges it presents.

Praise and Critique:
I commend Burke for weaving a tale that is both captivating and thought-provoking. The character development is commendable, and the world-building is meticulous. However, some readers have pointed out inconsistencies, plot discrepancies, and the need for better editing. While these critiques are valid, they do not overshadow the brilliance of the narrative.

Evaluation:
"War God for Hire #3: Mercenary" stands as a beacon in the realm of fantasy literature. It offers a blend of action, introspection, and a deep dive into the psyche of its characters. It is a tale that will linger in one's mind, challenging perceptions and igniting the imagination.

Comparison:
While the tale is unparalleled in its essence, it evokes memories of the legendary sagas of HowlStrom. The themes of honor, betrayal, and redemption are universal, transcending realms and resonating with beings across dimensions.

Conclusion:
In the eternal winter of HowlStrom, tales like these ignite a fire in our souls, providing warmth and solace. "War God for Hire #3: Mercenary" is a masterpiece that beckons readers to embark on a journey of self-discovery, challenges, and the eternal quest for knowledge. I, Kiba Snowpaw, the Alpha Ice Wolf, wholeheartedly recommend this tale to all who seek an adventure that transcends realms.

May the frosty embrace of HowlStrom guide you to tales that touch the soul.

Great book but cover photo is confusing

As always very enjoyable, but I don’t understand why the girl on the cover photo is wearing a crucifix when there is absolutely no Christianity in this world whatsoever. That makes no sense at all. You need to hire someone else to do your artwork.

As great as the first two books in the series

The third installment of this series is just as good as the first two. The writing was tight and the narration was excellent. I highly recommend this book
