About this listen

In the blink of an eye the world changed.

An experimental ASI with a terminal case of curiosity reached out and tampered with the universe in a way that it should not have, and unleashed a torrent of energy we would call magic into our galaxy.

Humans, and every other intelligent lifeform for that matter, were ill-prepared, physically and mentally, for such an eventuality.

In an effort to save itself, the ASI hastily created something it called the Framework to shape and codify this magical energy, and usher in a new world.

A world of classes, levels, and extraordinary power. But also a world of monsters running rampant, violence, strife, and people's darkest urges given free rein. So it has been for those caught up in the Framework's web for thousands of years, and now it was Earth's turn.

None of the above involved Torin Carter directly. The greatest challenge he faced had been the removal of an athletic scholarship due to a dogged shoulder injury.

Paying the bills and finding a way to finish school is what worried him.

He should have been a nobody, just another poor soul swallowed up and spat out by the crazy tumult of an RPG Apocalypse sweeping the planet.

However, a clerical error, and a little bit of interference by interested parties, resulted in him being gifted with an amazing opportunity in this new world order. An extra powerful build, one not available to the rank and file of humanity.

It does have one teeny-tiny drawback, though. The awesome character build he's gifted does mean his species is changed to something mildly demonic in nature. Which could be somewhat problematic.

Plus, his new class is Dungeon Corsair Captain. As the name suggests he is not supposed to be the hero, the opposite in fact, he is supposed to be the villain. His class demands it.

What will he do?

Deny the opportunity and hope things work out as the world is torn apart, throw himself on the mercy of others. Or roll with it, take the bull by the horns and not just survive the coming cataclysm but thrive.

Torin has never been a quitter and he really doesn't fancy dying. Option two it is.

Welcome to the Darkwyrlds.

You'll have the time of your life, or die trying.

Great story from this author, can't wait to see where it goes. Likable main crew and love the pirate theme

Can't wait for more

Sexual power fantasy and not my cup of tea or even done well. It gets right down cringe worthy at times. I had to stop eventually as I couldn't take it anymore.

13 year old sexual power fantasy

this is a solid start to what I hope will be a great series. I love how the author steals clear of the "Nice guy" tropes. The MC is a good man dropped into a helish situation and has to be strong enough not only to survive the new world but the darkness within himself. I'm looking forward to the next book.

very solid start

Another great book by Devan Drake. You will not be disappointed. Also the dual narration really brings the story to life. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

The story is excellent! The author is clever and very entertaining. My only complaint about the story is that it's the first book and the characters are already baby crazy. It's a real turn off when the mc has a pregnancy fetish, and it feels weird that this morally dark Grey character wants to be a daddy.

Good Book

What an absolutely amazing beginning to this series. This book has so much story, character development. world building and more. Ive begun to expect nothing less than this type of story and dedication from Devan Drake. If you were a fan of the Wolf Kings Lair Series, you'll be a fan of this series. Hands down I would 100% recommend giving this book a chance.

Tom North and Faye Bishop give an awesome narration performance. The voices of all the different characters brought to life by these narrators make this story even better.

Great Series Beginning

It is a fantastic and fun story full of action and adventure, I love the mix of rpg elements with an apocalypse story. the fact that the MC has such a unique class just makes everything better 10 out of 10.

incredible!!!

This was so good! I was on the fence at first with the dungeon core references. I tend to not love dungeon core books, but this one was great. Granted it is not all dungeon core either. Great story, and anxious for the next installment.
