About this listen

Being dead can't put a damper on spirited, holiday-loving Bailey Ruth Raeburn.

Christmas is a time for family and giving, and a wealthy woman in Adelaide, Oklahoma, is about to embrace both. Discovering that she has a young grandson, the dowager decides to change her will to leave the bulk of her fortune to the young boy, an alteration that stuns the rest of her family. But a scrooge of a determined heir makes sure she never signs the new document. When she is found dead, it's up to that irrepressible spirit Bailey Ruth, on assignment from Wiggins and Heaven's Department of Good Intentions, to protect a little boy, foil a murderer, and save Christmas.

There's only one teeny hitch: how can Bailey Ruth figure out which family member was desperate enough to kill when everyone has a motive?Boo-dunnit? Solve another ghostly mystery with Bailey Ruth.©2009 Carolyn Hart (P)2009 Random House

A light, enjoyable story where you don’t have to think...just relax, sit back and join the ghost in trying to help solve this murder mystery.

Enjoyable Fantasy

I love this series. They are innovative, and I usually can't figure out who did it until the end. Thank you to an excellent author and narrator!

Such Fun!

The second in the Bailey Ruth series, this is just as enjoyable as the first, Ghost At Work. The kind of story that lets you just enjoy and not tear at the emotions or depress. While the "ghost" part may be unbelieveable, it is relaxing to shut out the world and lose yourself in a delightful romp.

Light-hearted romp

Although a bit slow to start, this turned out to be s really good listen. Well developed characters, great narration. I enjoyed the "Lucy"- like qualities of Bailey Ruth. This made the story even more enjoyable.

Another great story!

I want to go into great detail in this review as I have only listened to perhaps 1/4 or 1/3 of this book. I decided it was not one I could finish. Perhaps it becomes more interesting as the book moves along further, but between the story and the narration it was simply a bit boring and unappealing to me. There is humor in the book but much of it fell fairly flat for me - for others that may be a completely different experience. I found that it dragged for me and I often was not even listening to it. That’s when I decided it made no sense to try to continue or to try to finish it. The narration is OK. She brings more interest to the narration when she is narrating conversations between characters, but the general narration is lacking - not much emotion, emphasis etc when there could be. Since this kind of narration encompasses much of the book, I decided it was time to quit. As well, the story simply did not hold my attention. I cannot remember why or how I decided to purchase this book… I imagine it was through a daily deal or some other special - I definitely don’t think I would have purchased it otherwise.

Not for me 😚

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I couldn't get past Ann Marie Lee's monotone voice. Her expression never changes. Dull.
