Story
If you are a French language learner looking to advance your reading skills and enhance your vocabulary, then this book will guide you through dialogue and story listening in your second language. We often are instructed with conventional activities in the form of worksheets, overlooking that words are 20 times more likely to be remembered if they are a part of a story (Bruner, 2017). Language learners retain more in the context of a story and become accustomed to the natural syntax of that language.

What is the hardest challenge you’ve faced as a student of the French language? You can work hard on your grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, but being able to communicate naturally isn’t easy. In fact, the toughest part of learning French is knowing how to speak like a native. Most textbooks are made to teach you the traditional rules and structures of a language and are great for getting around the grammar and spelling questions you may have.

Grammar! For many of us, the word triggers memories of finger-wagging schoolteachers, and of wrestling with the ambiguous and complicated rules of using formal language. But what is grammar? In fact, it's the integral basis of how we speak and write. As such, a refined awareness of grammar opens a world of possibilities for both your pleasure in the English language and your skill in using it, in both speech and the written word.

Why do we say "do" at all? Is the way we speak a reflection of our cultural values? Delving into these provocative topics and more, Our Magnificent Bastard Tongue distills hundreds of years of fascinating lore into one lively history.

This audiobook should be the first novel you try in French! Following a story in French can be difficult, even for advanced students. French novels are usually full of idiomatic expressions. They use complicated tenses, complex sentence structures, and often slang. This audiobook is in simple French. It's about the joys and the frustrations of an adult learning French. It includes a good dose of humor and a few exercises.

Surprising Twist
I have reviewed the first and second titles in this series (all five stars) so I won't go into detail here, but I would like to say that this book had a surprising twist as the leading character reaches her conclusion. Enjoyable, and I will be listening to it a second time. Thank you, France Dubin, for improving my French in a spicy way! Each plate has a fascinating flavor...
