My fiancé is screaming at me in public.

I'm used to it. My role here is to look pretty on his arm and to play nice so he doesn't hurt my sick daughter.

What I'm not used to is the man who comes to my rescue. Adrik Tasarov is a tall glass of gorgeous. He's got a jawline that could cut glass and eyes that could melt steel. Best of all: my fiancé is absolutely terrified of him.

So when Adrik asks me to dance, I say yes. When he asks me to do a little more than that, I say it again. Then comes the make-or-break moment. Adrik offers me a fake marriage to get me out of my real one. I say the two little words that seal my fate: "I do."

Little did I know I was signing a deal with the devil. Now, I'm a prisoner in a beautiful mansion. I can have anything I want—except for my freedom.

I have an ace up my sleeve. Something my fake husband doesn't know about. Something that will change everything. His baby in my belly.

Midnight Oath is the first book in the Tasarov Bratva duet from bestselling mafia romantic suspense author Naomi West. Adrik and Emery's story carries on into book two, Midnight Lies.

I listen to audiobooks daily. Half of them are mafia romance tropes. All of them are dark romance. The narrators are fine. I gave the book a 4/5 only because of the author’s ability to create a character that inspired so much rage in me, then she managed to keep it erupted with diesel fuel.

🚩🚩Spoiler alert
This MMC has zero redeeming qualities. His inner monologue reaches for one related to his single moral code related to hurting children, yet his behavior says otherwise. The FMC’s child is 6, has advanced muscular dystrophy, and requires a wheelchair. The FMC has raised her on her own and was a SA victim. She has also been abused mentally, physically, and emotionally by every male she’s ever encountered, including her father. Everything she does is for her daughter, but it’s pretty obvious that her trauma is the biggest influence behind everything thought and decision. This MMC’s level of his own daddy expectations and self loathing is unmatched. It only starts letting up toward the end for maybe 1 chapter before it’s back with vengeance.

The MMC made me feel so much rage that I actually skipped every spicy scene after the first. He treated the FMC so badly and did so many unforgivable things, like separating her from her daughter as punishment (more than once), that I started respecting any attempts she did make to try to get away from him and overlooked her hopeless romantic fantasy of finding a piece of kindness “there in his eyes”. I can’t read the second book y’all 😆 it was all too much.

Cliffhanger with zero angst relief

The Story wasn't too bad but a lot of needless back and forth bickering between the the 2 main characters for me to get to the point.

There was some light hearted banter between Adrik, and his best friend.

There was actually 2 surprise turns I didn't see coming , but damn you hadda invest over 12 hours into the book to get to that point.

Adrik, was an ass most of the time, then he seemd Nice on a rare occasion. He was really nice to the 6 yr old Isabella the little Girl though Who was handicapped and is his fiance / Wife's Emery's daughter .

This was a free offer book , had I know it was a 2 parter and ends on a cliff hanger into another book, I would not have invested time in the story. There was nothing listed about that.

I don't think I will be following up with the 2nd book to see how the story ends., not because I would have to pay for it , that's not a problem, but the fact that the 2nd book is just as long as the 1st book.

It is another 13 hours and I just don't have it I me to
go though the same ol same ol to finally get to the point .

Also I am a character described listener .

I love to know exactly what the characters look like. Who I am picturing in the story .

The Description of these characters are

EMERY is a Blonde with green eyes
ADRIK has dark hair with Blue eyes.

In the Picture of the female model Who is supposedly EMERY on the second book cover it shows the woman with green eyes and BROWN hair .

She don't match the description unless she dyes her hair color In the 2nd book , which I'm not about to invest another 13 hours to find out.

The Narrators were great.

The story was actually really good too , It was just to much fluff, it took way too long to tell it.

Would I Recommend this book .
Well Now knowing what I just told you,

Depends on You ...

For Me it Was a one and done.

Heads Up ! It's a 2 Part book Which is Not Listed .

I enjoyed the book but wished Emery would have learned earlier to ‘listen’ to Adrik to ensure a smoother relationship.

Nerves nonstop!!!

I got half way through and couldn’t finish. The female lead character was so so ridiculous and annoying. The narrators were ok but definitely could have used a male narrator with a deeper voice with better ability to add depth/variance.

I wanted to like it.

The female main character is a nut case. Her behavior is unstable and ugly. How could anybody be attracted to that? I don’t understand how he doesn’t just kick her out the door. It was hard to listen to.

Good story and narrator s

The manThe lead was great. His storyline was great, his father and brother, the storyline, was really good. The lead woman her storyline was very weak and unbelievable. You know the first night he kidnaps her daughter and all she can think about is how much she wants him. Then she sees her daughter, it's just crazy. And then she does crazy things, and don't think about her daughter when she's So much afraid in love with her daughter want to take care of her daughter but puts her daughter in danger all the time. Her, the character was very stupid.

It could have been so much better

Good story concept but it was drawn out and somewhat repetitive. Emery’s character was too gullible in my opinion. I get the whole enemies to lovers but a lot of the story was wasted on them constantly bickering. I really didn’t like finding out who Isabella’s father ended up being. It’s like Adrik and Emery just couldn’t catch a break. I’m hoping book 2 will be better, it’s going to be interesting to see how the story comes together.

Good story
