Publisher's summary

Amateur sleuth Geneva Pomolo and her assistant, Iris Reeves, are on a quest to visit every major tourist attraction in Northern Indiana. Their efforts lead them to the town museum, where a meeting of the Cryptid and Paranormal Society dissolves into chaos over disputed sightings of the Wrangler’s Devil - a hairy Bigfoot-like monster that’s said to stalk the woods at the northern edge of town. Howard “Hefty” Gulch advocates putting a team together to find the beast, but is shouted down by opponents who feel he’s meddling in things best left alone.

When Hefty is found dead on the slopes of a cliff during a routine camping trip, Geneva is certain of foul play. The deceased had no shortage of enemies: an old foe from college who once provoked him into making a terrible wager; a pious middle-aged woman who was frightened by Hefty’s talk of ghosts and spirits; a secretary who was sick of enduring his constant pranks; and a girlfriend who has grown old waiting for him to propose.

As Geneva is drawn ever deeper into Hefty’s tangled web of relationships, she finds any one of these people had reason to kill him. Now the race is on to find the true killer, a quest that will take her through woods and labyrinths, from walls hung with red silk to the wilderness where a man breathed his last - and where the murderer still lurks and waits. What started out as a joyous excursion into the social life of the city culminates in an investigation that could take her life.

Quirky Fun Cozy Mystery

Monsters & Mystery is a fun cozy mystery with a bunch of quirky characters that will leave you shaking your head until a dead body is discovered. The deceased has many people who wanted to see him/her dead but who had the opportunity to have committed such a dastardly dead. I thought I had it figured out but I was dead wrong (no pun intended) about the murderer. Kathleen Strecker did and absolutely phenomenal job narrating all the different voices and giving them real personality while bringing the story to life. The ending and all the secrets will make you go WHAT I did not see any of that coming. I highly recommend this book. I received this book from the narrator for free and this is my honest unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own volition.

A cozy mystery that will have you rolling your eye

OMG, I just have no words for some of the characters in this story. Right from the beginning you have Iris talk about using AI to help her write a book. Um, my thought was the same as Geneva's, are you serious? Then you have George wanting to or trying to write poems about the strangest things. A book that you must read as well and see what head shaking, eye rolling moments catches your attention! The murderer may surprise you. I didn't see it coming.

Now the narrator Kathleen Strecker does a good job at reading this book. I'm not sure if it it was meant or not, but whenever she reads Georgina it has a petulant childlike tone which is funny because it's what i picture of her every time she opens her mouth and starts talking. Georgina is constantly upset about something, but with a fiance like Hefty who can blame her. That same childlike tone comes out in others such as Tina a little, but you hear it more in Georgina.

Disclaimer:
I received this book for free from the narrator, and the review is given freely and is of my own opinion.
