Publisher's summary

"Free the child's potential, and you will transform him into the world." - Maria Montessori

This beginner's guide to the Montessori Method of homeschooling for children ages two to six is written by parents who have embraced this method of educating their own children. It was written in hopes of simplifying the process for other parents and caregivers who are considering doing the same. The Montessori Method of education can best be described as an "Aid to Life" rather than a specific method of passing on academic objectives.

This guide will help you learn how to bring the environment that your child lives and learns in down to eye-level with him or her. It will teach you how something as simple as getting rid of clutter can enhance the child's learning experience. It will help you to learn tips on integrating everyday activities and tools already in your home into your child's play time so that even during play, they're learning real skills that they'll be using for a lifetime. This guide will also be helpful for setting up your child's learning space, creating a daily routine and creating activities that will promote learning and keep your child interested and excited about it. Overall, by learning and implementing the Montessori Method in your home, you are creating a world where everyone is involved and children are thriving.

"We cannot create observers by saying 'observe', but by giving them the power and the means for this observation and these means are procured through education of the senses." - Maria Montessori

A great resource for parents

As a parent of 3 kids ages, 3, 4 and 6 all of whom attend Montessori school, this book helped me find ways to identify and implement key Montessori methods and materials in my home to make life more consistent and help my kids be as independent at home as they are at school.

Not What I Expected

This book was not at all what I expected. Firstly the book presents itself as a beginner guide to the teaching style but in reality the author assumes you already know about Montessori learning, not true in my case. The author then, very plainly, lists supplies that she has deemed necessary for homeschooling. Finally the author goes through several activities, gives a short description of each, and states the age group. If that's qhat you are wanting then this is the book for you. If not DO NOT get this book.

Brief and Specific

I love Montessori and have been trying to do some of my own lessons at home with my two year old. While other books are extremely informative about the philosophy, this book gives a few basic exercises with materials that can be used over and over.

Not for audio format

No spark with this book, and the narrator’s style was rather annoying and not fit for the text. For example she would overdramatize the word “beautiful” too often as “bee-yootiful” when the sentence was rather solemn. It might do better in print.

Good concepts but delivery could be better.

I listen to a lot of audiobooks relating to Montessori and I just really find the delivery of this audiobook to sound really condescending especially since I know a lot of the tips and tricks the author is relaying. It was really hard to take the advice in this book seriously because I just could not ignore how flippant the narrator sounded. Skip this and just go listen to Maria Montessori's Official Handbook, it's part of the public domain.

Very brief; more suited for print.

Very basic information. Brief, and honestly all accessible in a blog post. In fact, blogs were cited... a lot, so much that you *could* save yourself the four dollars and research online. The activities were difficult to follow without visual references anyway.
