Publisher's summary

All things must come to an end....

London is in the frozen grip of an unnatural winter, and Queen Victoria wants answers. Cara and Nate know who - the Curator. The queen's artifact hunters just don't know what is responsible. Cara is on the trail of an ancient and powerful artifact capable of freezing a city and stirring demons. First she must confront her past and her father's history. Only in learning why her father became a disciple of the Curator can she hope to learn what the old noble seeks and why he is so fascinated by her.

Then tragedy strikes, and the bond forged by Nefertiti's Heart is severed. Nate without Cara succumbs to his darkness, and he lashes out at those he holds responsible for her loss. Meanwhile, in the shadows, Inspector Fraser waits for his opportunity to pull down the man known as the villainous viscount.

With London entombed in ice and all hope lost, could this be the end...?

Nate & Cara together again..heaven!

Any additional comments?

Cara has a heart for an orphan; is again haunted by her paternal past (with hot surprises); captured by a serpent of sorts; and is up against a force called the Curator, that may have manipulative ties that were acting before anyone imagined. So, lot’s of sexy pirates, amazing artifacts, demons and great friends; with her dragon making a life saving appearance with additional knowledge that makes the story explode into action. What could be better!

Light years better than book two

If you liked book one, hated the porn in book two, and are wondering if this book is worth reading, I'll give it a resounding yes. If I can rearrange a quote from another review I found particularly apropos to book two (to humpy humpy, less hunty hunty. Sorry, I don't remember your name), this book has lots of hunty hunty, and, with an hour left, no humpy humpy. There is one "fade to black" scene at this point, though. IDK if there is language, I just have been enjoying the hunty hunty.

Please don't read this if you are looking for a book to pick to pieces (if you are, shame on you), or if you are looking for a 5-6 course meal. It's not that kind of book. It's the book you read when you want to take time away from whatever space operas or heavy magical stuff or intense saving the kingdom kind of thing.

The narrator as always, is excellent. One of the great qualities of her narration, besides all the other ones, is that, when I get caught up in listening, I know a man is speaking. Many female narrators can't do that. Granted, her male repertoire is limited, but so are a few male narrators I've heard.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

12/30/21
i had to listen to the whole series again 1 last time before it was pulled from the Plus Category.
i am hoping that they are being pulled because they have the rest of the series recorded. Once the rest are done I will purchase the collection.

6/10/21
i have listened to the entire series at least 5 times if not more.
i keep waiting for the rest of the books to become available on here.

i just love the stories, the history and the time the stories are set in.
The characters are easy to love and relate with.
The narrator Gemma is fantastic.
She has a wonderful energy and does a spectacular job with everyone's different voices.
Although she could use work on her Scottish accent....sorry But i really do enjoy listening to her. I will definitely be looking into some of her other works.

Just finished the set again for the 8th possibly 12th time. I have lost count how many times now.

i have lost count waiting for the rest of the books. if Gemma Dawson reads the rest of the series i will definitely pay for them all.

i am dyslexic so i am unable to just read the other books myself.
i depend on audio books for my reading enjoyment.

Dragons and now Phoenix feathers!

Cara and Nate and the whole rest of their extended family together again after getting her back. All now are working to keep the artifacts safe and hidden. Can not wait for book 5 and a baby.

Combines Biblical Facts with Artifact Mysticism

The fourth in the series combines the tale of Moses parting the Red Sea with some (fictional) mysticism that is dark and confusing, sending Cara and Nate on the hunt for a monster that no one understands. Even the text that they locate needs to be translated. This one is one tick down from the last book, which to me had much more scientific/historical information in it, while this one reverts back to the emotional/physical relationship between Cara and Nate, as well as others in the book. But it is still a good listen. Its filled with fantastical creatures, and warring egos of men, who are bound and determined to get their way. One of my favorite parts is when Cara and Nate bring the sweet little girl with one arm home from the rookery to live with them. She is brave and tough as nails. I wish that more in the series was available on Audible.
