About this listen

Helena's life had always been quiet. In fact, she liked it that way. When her childhood friend returns home and tells her that she is the prophesied ruler of the Chosen, those blessed with the gift of magic, her quiet life goes up in flames.

Suddenly Helena finds herself surrounded by a circle of protectors, each having sworn their loyalty to her since her birth. All except for one: her Mate. It's not enough that she must learn how to use her magic and undergo a trial to prove her worthiness; in order to claim her title, Helena must also find the man who carries the other half of her soul.

Exiled due to a past he had no part in, Von is the last man the Chosen expect Helena to select. Despite their protests, his soul calls to hers and there's no denying that he was made for her. But the prophecy stands, and all isn't as it seems. There's an enemy lurking within plain sight who will stop at nothing to destroy her. Contains mature themes.

I need more!!!!

Meeting Helena and Von and the rest of the circle and learning along with Helena what the Chosen are all about feels like slipping into a well loved fairytale complete with monsters. Meg Anne has built a world you want to dive into and Noelle Bridges has brought it to life.

EHH..

Maybe it would have been better if I read it. The narrator was terrible for this book.

Well written

I’m enjoying the various characters and curious to see where the series will take me next. The book does leave off on a cliffhanger and I’m starting with book 2 shortly.

a good read

character development is kinda of weak and needless love triangle. but love the romantic angle she took

Good but...

This book was very good. I liked the story and characters. The only thing that I found odd was the vast number of male characters as compared to female characters. More than that, the fact that Helena must rely on 5 men for her protection and wellbeing. Sure, the romance was great, but the belief that men are necessary for protecting a woman just seems a bit cliche. Maybe it is just Daren's behavior that makes this so frustrating. After all, Hellena does assert herself on several occasions. Definitely will read the rest of the series though.

To slow for me

The book was too slow for me. The romance was a little boring and the storyline didn’t pull me in. I like Meg Anne but this was not my favorite of hers.

Entertaining enough

So this would be a 3 1/2 star review if that were a possibility. Let’s start out with the positives. The overall storyline and world building were interesting. Not the most original but built to a sufficient degree that I was engaged. Narration for the novel was also very good. Overall plot on the story was relatively simplistic and by the end I found myself frustrated by characters making stupid decisions, even with prophesies that flat out told them what was going to happen. There is a cliffhanger ending and honestly I’m not sure I’m engaged enough with the characters to continue on.
