About this listen

What do a heartless Dragon Shifter, a cold-blooded Basilisk, an arrogant Lion Shifter, and a brooding, tattooed Harpy have in common…?

Me.

Elise Callisto. Vampire. Angel of vengeance. And a girl on a mission to destroy one of them for murdering my brother. I just don’t know which one did it yet.

When I kicked the ass of a Werewolf who was high on a new and dangerous drug called Killblaze, his final words painted a dark reality for me. The King of Aurora Academy killed my brother. The trouble is, there’s four kings at that school, and each of them have motive and cutthroat natures.

Aurora Academy isn’t a place for the faint of heart. To put it lightly, my town is the asshole of Solaria where the dodgiest Fae in the kingdom reside. The school itself is divided by the two gangs who run this town, The Lunar Brotherhood and the Oscura Clan. And guess what? Two of the kings run the gangs at the school, their hatred for each other so fierce I hear a day doesn’t go by without blood being spilled in the halls.

I might be a petite, lilac-haired girl who looks like a fragile doll, but they haven’t been introduced to my fangs yet. And they don’t know why I’m really here. Or that I’ll do whatever it takes to bring down the Fae who took my flesh and blood from me.

I don’t believe in fate, but I do know this…the King who killed my brother is a dead man walking. And I’m prepared to sacrifice my heart, body and soul to ensure I get my revenge.

This is a reverse harem series set in the world of Zodiac Academy four years before the Vega Twins were awakened. Expect some character cross-over, dark and hot romance, and a twisted murder mystery which will leave your head spinning.

Five Freaking Stars 👏👏👏

Yaaaaaaaaaasss! I was scared, guys. I was scared going into this. Why do you ask? Well. I read Kings of Quarantine before this - my first book from this author duo - and it was waaaaaaaay too much for me. It was brutal. Just like the title. Haha. Anyway - I knew they were good writers and people loved them so I wanted to give another series of theirs a shot. I am so freaking glad I did - this book was 🙌 epic. The FMC is so strong and totally worth the love of all these hot men. It’s academy but it definitely has its own little twist to it. Only the first book is on audio sadly - the narration was HOT. I really love Troy Duran’s voice - and the female narrator rocked it too! I couldn’t wait for the second book to be released so I’m reading the second one on kindle. I can’t wait to own all the audio books though! I love owning special ones I can re-listen to!

Lots of steamy scenes! Starting to really like main characters! Great storyline. Little bummed the author didn’t wrap up any of the stories.

Decent narration

The story was entertaining. The narrators were good. I liked that they made many different voices so you could tell people apart. The narrators did better than I expected so even though I own the next book in ebook form I went ahead and just ordered the audiobook as well.

Suspenseful, Dark, Funny, Sexy

Reader, I’m as surprised as you are that I’m writing this review. Good students of English literature are not supposed to indulge in such fantasy fiction and *like* it! I’m supposed to sneer and spit and pick it apart for its predictable conventions! This story is undergirded by “fae” world rules, but the story is so much more creative and inventive than just featuring the winged meanies who fart in the general direction of the (cough-cough) humans and their paltry, mortal probs. Not here! This story packs in vampires, storm dragons (can I get a what-what?!), lion-shifters, Pegasuses (LOL), Harpies—remixes them as creatures who can also command elements—and *then* sorts their mysterious origins into gangs and schools and whole & broken families with varying degrees of privilege, education, money, and hard living.

I bought this book on a lark(2-for-1) and I’m glad I didn’t let the lackluster title stop me from giving it a try. The main “king” characters are broody and hilarious (at times), and I deeply appreciate the heroine-protagonist’s dry wit and easy resistance to the sway of all of those hunky dudes. She’s fierce and capable without being too caustic. She’s flirtatious and calculating. Funny and cold. She’s driven and distracted. Hooray for characters who embrace contradictions!

I appreciate the mystery and discovery of the how the world looks through both human and not-human eyes (like the dude who can shift into being a snake):
“I wound through the trees, tasting a thousand scents on the air from the crispness of pine trees to the earthiness of moss. I sensed the heat of a deer herd before they stampeded away from me and I slithered deeper into the forest. The mossy ground made my scales slide smoothly along the ground, leaving no trail at all as I headed toward the most north eastern corner of campus. I slid through a small stream and up a steep bank, coming to a halt beside the entrance to the Kipling Cache with a deep rattle in the depths of my body.” (Chapter 34)

I mean, come on! Is that not cool? Well, if you aren’t impressed by the rattle that comes from deep within one’s snake body, perhaps you should give this one a miss. Besides some fun aesthetics and excellent criticism on power dynamics within families, institutions, crime lords, and haves vs. have-nots, there is the excellent tension provided by the plot’s main question: who killed G?? This mystery continues.

Enjoyable!

Both the authors and the narrators do a good job of portraying this story. I enjoyed listening to this audiobook.

Damn Good!

This was sitting in my wishlist for a long time and a friend suggested I give it a try. I love RH books and been in a book slump so decided, What the heck. My only complain is why did I wait so long!! This story grabbed me from the start and sucked me in so completely. Elise is a very complex, badass character who finds out her brother is murdered and decides to enroll in his school to find out to done it and kill the a-hole. The story floats between the past and the present and you get to hear Garreth’s versions of what happened before he died. I haven’t been into murder mystery before but I am dying to find out how he died and by the end of this book, you still don’t have a clue, but every part is so interesting and the boys are hot and dangerous and Elise plays them all to perfection. I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens next.
