About this listen

Mr Fortune, Please

By H. C. Bailey

Narrated by Graham Scott

The eclectic surgeon-detective Mr. Reggie Fortune solves a fourth collection of Golden Age mysteries, including: the sudden disappearance of a husband; a skillful but oddly undiscriminating cat burglar; a jewel theft at a society party; a cryptic inscription on an ancient oak chest; a fatal poisoning and a troubled woman; and the whimsical theft of a Persian kitten—which leads Mr. Fortune to a far more chilling and sinister crime...

Well crafted

One of my favorites, read by one of my favorite narrators. if you like early 20th century British mysteries, these are neither silly nor tough. Mr. Fortune is civilized,in a culture that may or may not have actually existed, and he specializes in preventing crimes if he can.
