About this listen

From the author of Courting Mr. Lincoln comes a different kind of Christmas story featuring a grown up Tiny Tim, this breathless flight through the teeming markets, shadowy passageways, and rolling brown fog of 1860s London would do Dickens proud for its surprising twists and turns, and its extraordinary heart.

It's the Christmas season, and Mr. Timothy Cratchit, not the pious child the world thought he was, has just buried his father. He's also struggling to bury his past as a cripple and shed his financial ties to his benevolent "Uncle" Ebenezer by losing himself in the thick of London's underbelly. He boards at a brothel in exchange for teaching the mistress how to read and spends his nights dredging the Thames for dead bodies and the treasures in their pockets.

Timothy's life takes a sharp turn when he discovers the bodies of two dead girls, each seared with the same cruel brand on the upper arm. The sight of their horror-struck faces compels Timothy to become the protector of another young girl, Philomela, from the fate the others suffered at the hands of a dangerous and powerful man.

I really liked the story very much. But the narrator, whom I could tell is an excellent actor, so frequently drops his voice to low, soft tones that I spent the entire listening experience adjusting the volume.

Narrator's speaks too low

Ive read this before, years ago. The story is more intense than I remember, probably because or the Narrators performance. Exceptional! As for the storyline, its heartbreaking and heartwarming, terrifying, suspenseful and shocking.

Great story and outstanding performance by the narrator. Such a treasure. I've already read it twice and look forward to the next time.

Splendid Dickensian type thriller.

A pleasant trip into the unknown what happened to Tiny Tim from a Christmas Carol? Mr. Timothy gives us a fantastic possible future for young Tim complete with mystery and trills for days without our ghostly companions

A Christmas Carol Sequel

Just when I think I can’t love another book a new one comes along. I just finished several books on Dickens and A Christmas Carol when I decided to finish the season with Mr. Timothy. What an excellent choice. I had to slow the speed of the narrator down then the book took off. Great narration GREAT story. All the things you would want to know about after A Christmas Carol and more. I didn’t want it to end. A sequel to this book would be heaven. Enjoy!!

New Favorite!!

Boring, verbose, overwrought. Just a bunch of words. Confusing and awkward. Not a good story, plot or presentation. Seems like the author had an idea and nothing else. So he just started filling pages.

Not good.
