About this listen

The town of Ashford Fork, Tennessee, has enough problems dealing with the worst rainstorm in a century. When the townsfolk start turning up dead and partially eaten, they discover they have more than rain to worry about.

Something was in the lake, something that has now grown beyond their wildest imaginations, and something that has been given free reign to feed as the water level rises and the town begins to flood.

A staple of Southern cooking has turned the tables. Will anyone survive the rise of the Mudcat?

From the author of The Corruption of Alston House and Savage Mountain comes a tale reeking of B-Movie goodness in novel form.

This story was definitely strange. But the characters were pretty well crafted, the narrator was great and the writing was very good.

weird but fun

I love this story, has that relatable to most characters thing going on. The suspense was great. The only thing I didn't care for was the cover art of the book. It really threw me for a disappointing loop. You'll get it when you read or listen to the story.

Creepy

honestly this book could be about 5 hours rather then 7. its dragged out so much because the narrator talks at a slow snails pace. i had to bump the speed up to 1.25 just to keep from passing out. narrator also delivers every voice the same, and with the same sort of monotone. its not enough to really kill the story, but its not really an "edge lf the seat" thriller. more something you put on in the background to drone on while you work on something.

the story is.. decent. they arent joking when they say its like a scifi b movie. rather nonsensical and disjointed. but not Bad in that terrible way. just sort of slapdash together. again, pretty much something you turn on to tune out, best gotten in a sale for lowlow price, or need to fill out things in a 2 for 1 credit sale.

its ok.

I really love the premise of this book.
I think walking catfish are extraordinarily creepy.
I easily grasped the suspension of disbelief to enjoy the tale.

I still get a weird chill thinking about the 'mudcat's' loathsomeness.
It's birth, it's disgusting hunger, It's tormented & completely vile nature.

Strangely, my only small problem was the nearly unending harsh language. It made me dislike some of the characters.
Of course, perhaps the author wanted me to go there.
A creepy backwoods legend, that I recommend - if you like very creepy stories.

A creepy legend is born

This book was so dumb I don't even know what to say other than it's dumb. Don't waste your time, $ or credit on this one.
