About this listen

Mike Hammer is a popular guy. At least with certain people. Several failed assassination attempts have got him riled, so apart from preventing the kidnapping of a famous New York socialite, he's hell-bent on figuring out who wants him dead...someone who's desperate for the kill of his life.

Good enough to read twice!

Initially it took me a while to get used to Stacy Keach’s narration. For starters, he whistles his Ss and that was very annoying and distracting. After a couple of chapters I finally was able to get used to his style and thoroughly enjoyed the story. It was super good.

The climax is like the slamming of a sarcophagus.

A great story and a a great narrator. I love hard- boiled detective stories and this one simmers. Enjoy.

Is he dead??? Yet?

Would you listen to Murder Never Knocks again? Why?

Not really. Why would I listen to a mystery and suspense novel twice? Once is enough and just right.

What about Stacy Keach’s performance did you like?

That he is not performing?

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not really... I felt bad for Pat though

Classic Mike Hammer Style

A Page turner, great story from beginning to end, and very well performed. Perfect length to listen to in one sitting.

My first Mike Hammer story.

I must say that Stacy Keach has the perfect voice to do audio recordings for hard-boiled detective fiction but, it makes complete sense since we played Mike Hammer on TV in the 80s.

Contracts

A typical Mike Hammer, bad guys and good looking babes galore. This one is different in that a contract has been put out on Mike’s life and it’s up to him to figure it out before it’s too late.

A fitting tribute

I read that Mickey Spillane said that Mike Hammer doesn't rey age and he will never die. Hes a hero hes immortal and even though Spillane is gone the love for his work by people like Collins and Keach make it possible for him to live on in print and audio. This was a good story with a great ending with plenty of classic Hammer.

Tired

Keach was ok as Hammer on TV, but he's not a narrator. Zero voice differences between characters. No reason for Hammer to be so unhelpful to police. Hammer's invincibility is silly, and eliminates any suspence. Even tough guys sometimes lose a fight.
