About this listen

An invitation from a hotel owner to stay at his new seaside hotel provides Evie, Countess of Woodridge, with the perfect opportunity to fulfill her maid's dream of vacationing by the seaside.

However, the prospect of spending an entire week strolling along the pier makes Evie realize she is no longer cut out for a life of leisure. Clearly, she is missing the exhilaration she experienced during the last few murder cases she had become involved in.

When a young woman dies right outside their hotel, Evie finds the perfect opportunity to distract herself. The local police think it is suicide. Evie has other ideas....

Assisted by her bodyguard, Tom Winchester, and her maid, Caro, Evie works her way from one clue to the next until she is able to prove there is a case worth looking into.

Entertaining

Another entertaining addition to this series. Going to the. Seaside brings more than just a relaxing time. When a maid falls to her death the mystery begins

Tom's accent is very distracting

I agree with others in that Tom's accent is very distracting. I hope the next books are better or I will have to give up listening.

Amusing

The books are an entertaining distraction. But the narrator's attempt at a Boston accent is grating. Better to read the books.

Tom’s accent

I agree Tom’s account was all wrong. I liked the story line but Tom was just wrong.

Enjoyable!

I think this one is my favorite in the Evie Parker series. It's a good mystery without a lot of personal drama or false accusations.

New accent ruins it

Tom now has an extremely strong Boston accent, and it's unbearable. He went from being a classy chauffeur to a character straight out of Good Will Hunting, and it's awful. It's not that the narrator does a bad Boston accent, it's that it's so over-the-top & makes absolutely no sense for it to come out of nowhere. There's also no way her grandmother would've hired someone who spoke like that to begin with. I couldn't make it past the 1st chapter, and I won't be listening to any more of the books, which saddens me bc they'd been so much fun!

It’s a No for me

I cannot continue listening!!! The story is awful. And the character of Tom is completely different than he was in the first two books.
