About this listen

Kansas City, 1922: a hub of jazz music and the mob. While the Kansas side of the city had Carrie Nation and prohibition, on the Missouri side the Irish Pendergast brothers kept the liquor flowing.

Claire O'Connor is a young newspaper reporter, hungry to find her next big case. While interviewing Anthony Glaviano about his new restaurant, a man is cut down outside on the street.

Claire wants to solve the murder. Unknown to her, Anthony is keeping secrets from her, and the restaurant's true purpose is something completely different. The two begin an affair, but soon, a handsome detective begins blackmailing Claire about the Glaviano family and their criminal dealings, and Claire needs to decide where her loyalties lie.

Connie L. Beckett's Murder at the Tindari is a romantic mystery set in the early 20th century United States.

a love story of sorts

I rooted for Tony and Claire throughout the story.
Time and circumstances were against them all the way., sadly. I wanted to smack Claire's mom. She acted like it was the dark ages and trying to make a comeback for arranged marriages! Her dad seemed more reasonable. Claire had a learning lesson in the school of hard knocks, unfortunately. Some things just can't be, and I mourned the death of that relationship. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing the characters and story to life.

Great mystery murder story

It's well written mystery murder story. If you love old times mafia stories than this is great for you. I didn't like the narrator voice from very begging, but once she started to change voice depending on character I fall in love with her. She did wonderful job in here.

Engaging story

I enjoyed Murder at the Tindari by Connie L Beckett. Claire O’Connor is a budding newspaper reporter in 1920’s Kansas City. When interviewing a new restaurant owner, Anthony Glaviano, she witnesses a murder outside on the street. Unbeknownst to Claire, the restaurant is a hub of money laundering and the Mafia. After doing her research for a story, Claire gets involved with Anthony despite everything she knows and suspects. Its a good story, although I found Claire to be a bit whiny. I realize she is a naive young woman and maybe that’s why she made the choices she did. The narration by Tara Marie Kirk was wonderful. Her unique voices for all the different characters brought the story to life.
