From the well-known author of the popular series, The Monterey Peninsula Murder Mysteries. Arlene Grace introduces her third installment, Murder in Pebble Beach. Taking place in the idealistic, small, and wealthy community of Pebble Beach located on the Central Coast of California. After a major earthquake hits the coast off of Pebble Beach, California, prominent Dentist Dr. Bob Reed is reported missing shortly after sharing an incredible secret with his brother. Suspecting foul play, his identical twin Bill, comes into town and tries to unravel what may have happened to him. Encumbered with the impending sale of their old family mansion, their realtor Abbey Rite has no clue as to any of the old family mansion's undisclosed secrets. Secrets which intertwine with long forgotten tales of an old shipwreck and sunken treasure slowly unravel, taking you for a historical ride from beginning to end. The story also continues with the main character Abbey Rite and her search for romance. Simply a must-listen for California lovers. Especially those who love California history and the Monterey Peninsula.

April Richwine's narration was pretty poorly done and was the main reason that I wasn't able to get into this book. When Abbey and her boyfriend are talking and things are a little steamy, a flat, monotone voice does absolutely nothing to bring me into the story. It feels false and like a person is just reading the words without attempting to put any emotion into what they're saying. That being said, there were other times like when Abbey was with I think it was her mom and some other woman, where the emotion was there. The two women, when conversing with Abbey's ex-boyfriend, had a cute southern accent and were read with emotion. It was the other majority of the book though, where that emotion was lacking. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.
