About this listen

Midwife Sarah Malloy and her private investigator husband, Frank, must stop a killer lurking among a young family in the newest installment of the USA Today bestselling Gaslight Mysteries.

Hugh Breedlove is far from the most agreeable client private investigator Frank Malloy has ever had, but his case is impossible to refuse: his young niece, Julia, has been wrongfully committed to an insane asylum by her cruel and unfaithful husband, Chet Longly. Though Breedlove and his wife seem more interested in protecting the family reputation than their niece’s safety, Frank and Sarah agree to help for the sake of Julia and the young son she left behind.

Frank and Sarah’s investigation reveals a dark secret—a maid at the Longly home died suspiciously under Chet’s watch, and now it seems Julia’s son might also be in danger. The Malloys fear they are dealing with a man more dangerous than they had anticipated, one who will do anything to defame his wife. But all is not as it seems in the Longly family, and perhaps another monster is hiding in plain sight...

The series is well written, engaging, and I can’t wait until the next one comes out. Suzanne Toren is the reader, and she’s perfect with both the male and female voices.

Great series!

This is a great series - love the characters, the narrator, the plot, everything. I’m always sad when a book is finished.

it was upsetting to think that a healthy woman was sent to an asylum. But, I wanted her back in as much as I originally wanted her released after knowing what she was capable of.

I enjoyed the entire process I went through to reach my own conclusions.

Excellent work as always. Good narration and can't wait for the next adventure down history lane.

Nice story.

The narrator really brought this book to life. The story of the not-yet-understood psychological disease kept me interested in how it was handled. And it was handled beautifully!

Delightful

A psychopath can use a word like, 'I love you' but it means nothing more to him than if he said, 'I'll have a cup of coffee."

I love the characters. I love the setting. I am so interested in who they are and how they relate to one another that i am always looking for the next book!
I did not choose 5 stars because i also like to be surprised by my mysteries. In this case and in some other books in the series I knew who did it almost immediately. It occasionally annoys me but it is the character development that keeps me hooked.

Love the characters so keep coming back
