Publisher's summary

This is a Dual POV kisses only, sweet romance.

My checklist guarantees my brother a flawless wedding.

I've missed nothing except for the one person I never expected to be there.

Male voices grab my attention. My eyes lock on one in particular.

Of course, my idiot brother forgot to tell me who his best man is.

Archer Sullivan. My high school crush.

Ten years have passed since I saw him, and he still leaves me breathless.

Archer's intense gaze makes me feel transparent.

His silence even more so.

My easy smile wobbles under his scrutiny.

The more time I spend with him, the more my defenses crumble.

He's penetrating the armor encasing my heart. I can't resist him. I'm falling for my brother's grumpy best friend...again.

This standalone is a clean, brother's best friend, grumpy/sunshine, small town, military, sweet and swoony friend romance. Let yourself get swept up with Rosaline and Archer as they realize that they have always been each other's true love. Just like with all my other books, I hope you fall in love with the two of them and are left wanting more!

Clean Standalone Rom-com Interconnected Series HEA

Enjoyed this as an ebook. Listening to it with the duo narrators made it even better.

Rosaline is planning her brother, Luke and her friend's wedding. Archer is Luke's best friend from high school. They had a crush on each other back then but kept it to themselves. Spending time together again, finishing up wedding plans, their feelings get complicated. Will they get together? Does his past get in the way? What will her brother say?

4.5 stars

Rosaline was unhappy to discover that Archer, her adolescent crush from a decade before, was her brother’s best man for his wedding. As they spent more time together, old feelings couldn’t be ignored. But as they grew closer they had to face up to the demons from Archer’s past. This was a cute and sweet story. It’s a quick read/listen. The characters were engaging and had an interesting history. The romance was good. I liked the story. I believe it is one of the author’s early books and some parts felt a little less smoothly developed, but not too bad. This is a closed door romance with mild innuendo. I’m not as observant with language in audiobooks but I did note one instance of mild harsh language.

The narration was overall good. This is a dual POV story with dual narrators. Both narrators had clear enunciation and fairly even volume. I liked the female narrator. I had more mixed feelings about the male narrator. I liked his regular voice fine but two things bothered me about his delivery. First, sometimes his expression with emotions felt excessive. There were a few instances, whenever Archer was dealing with strong feelings, but particularly with anger. It made the male main character sound petulant. My other issue was some of the voices he used for male secondary characters. They seemed almost like voice caricatures, or something.

Good, clean romance

My Brother’s Grumpy Best Friend written by Abby Greyson and narrated by Zach Young and Lexi Balter is so good!

Rosaline and Archer have always cared for each other but just haven’t expressed it. When Archer shows up to Rosaline’s brother’s wedding they finally have a chance.

I love the strong FMC that Rosaline is and the vulnerability that the MMC shows. Abby touches on serious subjects yet keeps it light enough. I definitely recommend this book for a clean romance with a HEA.

The narrators did a great job keeping the whole story interesting without the sound becoming monotonous or boring. I really enjoyed them!.

My Brother’s Grumpy Best Friend

I don’t typically listen to audiobooks, but I gave this one a shot because of the author. have truly enjoyed every book I have read by this author. This one is no exception. I loved following along with the development of the characters and storyline. Rosalind and Archer capture your heart as you watch them overcome the obstacles in their path. This was a very heartwarming book.

Heartfelt

I’m a huge fan of books on audio and this was totally engaging for me. For one, the characters are represented by two readers which made the story’s dialogue flow. The story content, inflection of emotion, and relationship between Rosalind and Archer was well represented, drawing me into their budding relationship. LOVED!!.

Everyone Knows But Them

This book revolves around the heroine's brother's marriage. His best friend is the book’s hero. His little sister has had a crush on him since they were teenagers, but she never let him know back in the day. When she sees him again 10 years later for the first time since he left town, the old feelings come rushing back. But something about him has definitely changed.

The story takes place as all the groomsmen and bridesmaids are essentially having a house party over the weekend as they're waiting for the wedding. I liked the way the author portrayed the relationship between the guys, as it showed the easy camaraderie very well. It certainly came across that they've been good friends for a long time. The bridesmaids weren't all known to each other, but they quickly became good friends. It is actually a great idea to have a romance take place during a house party. You rarely see that in contemporary romance; it is almost cliche in historical romance (though a well-loved one!). The forced proximity makes for interesting encounters between all involved and puts the hero and heroine in the hot seat! I like how no female character was made to be a villain, even though two were interested in the hero aside from the heroine. Even the hero’s ex, who is often the villain in a romance of any time period, showed depth of character in her sincere desire for her ex to be happy.

The hero has crippling PTSD after a few dangerous missions in special forces, and he does not believe he is serious relationship material for any woman because of it. He has terrible nightmares and responds instinctively to unexpected touch, lashing out protectively. He has that struggle to get beyond, plus he believes his friend would not approve of him being romantically involved with his little sister. I like how the author showed that pretty much everyone around the couple knew how much they cared about each other—some even knowing a decade ago!—but them!

Clean Romance

Rosaline is planning her brother's wedding and is totally surprised when she finds out that Archer is the best man. She has been crushing on Archer for the longest time. Archer unknown to Rosaline liked her too. He feels that he is not worthy of her love due to all that he experienced in the war. Will Rosaline be able to overcome he objections or will she fade into the background.

I listen to Audio books all the time. Sometimes the narrators can just make the book a unique experience.
