Publisher's summary

When my husband’s mistress was found brutally murdered, I was the one imprisoned for the crime.

I was willing to do whatever it took to prove my innocence. When Dr. Evelyn Powell showed up on visiting day, I was shocked to learn she was my husband’s new fiancé. I befriended her in hopes of finding answers to my questions.

Was my husband behind the brutal slaying? If I wanted to regain my freedom, I had to figure out a way to convince Evelyn to betray the man she loved and search for the evidence that would prove my innocence. After all, if I was right about my husband, she could be his next victim.

A psychological thriller with a twist you’ll have to listen to, to believe.

Omg!!

I cannot believe the story just ended like that!! Omg!!
I don’t want to give away any spoilers but this book absolutely drew me in and captivated me for the entire listen. The narrator, Whitney Dykhouse did a wonderful and emotional performance of the main character, Liz.
I am invested to see what happens next between Liz and Evelyn!
This is my first book I’ve read from Wendy Owens and after listening to this book in one sitting it won’t be my last.
If you enjoy psychological thrillers then this book is for you!

attention Grabber!

I loved this book. usually it's very hard for me to keep interested in books but I kept wondering what was going to happen next. I will say I wish I knew what happened with Alison's killer and Evenlyn. The story kinda of leaves you hanging at the end.

So many twists!

I really enjoyed this dark and twisted audiobook. The narrator did a great job. This story is intense and shocking. The story is so well written and flows well, keeping you guessing until the very end. I definitely did not guess the big twist at end. I highly recommend this audiobook!

Excellent and suspenseful Psychological Thriller!

This was my first Wendy Owens's book, and definitely won't be my last. This is an excellent and suspenseful Psychological Thriller Novel. The characters are well developed, and intriguing. The plot is well crafted, and mesmerizing, filled with unpredictable twists and turns. Impossible to put it down. The conclusion is mind blowing, and jaw dropping. I am looking forward to listening to My Wife’s Husband, the next book in the series. Whitney Dykhouse is a new narrator to me. She has a beautiful voice! Her interpretation is flawless, and she brilliantly brings this story to life. This is an amazing team author/narrator! I HIGHLY recommend it.

I hated everyone lol

Good story concept. Everyone was trash. The main character was a pick me The husband had no balls. The killer has a valid point. The story drags on a bit much and beware it is a part 2.

Not my normal read. Well done!

This is the first book I've read/listened to by Wendy Owens. I originally read the ebook and my review hasn't changed. I normally read/listen to romance, but wanted to try branching out to read what I watch on television. It was well written, hard to pause because I wanted to find out what happened. I can't say there was a character that I liked, but it was character strong. I had it figured out before the reveal, but was surprised how it was revealed and that this will be continued. There was a satisfying enough ending if choosing not to continue with the series, but I'm looking forward to the next book.

Whitney Dykhouse is a new to me author. She did well. there wasn't a lot of difference in the character's voices but I'd rather that then having to listen to bad voice acting. She reads well with emotion.

Hold on for a wild ride!

Just when you think you’ve got it figured out, it all changes! Can she convince her husbands fiancé that he’s a murderer and that she was set up? Or are there details to this mystery that she’s missing out on? Loved hearing everything unfold and the twisted ride this was. So good!

Liz & Evelyn

My Husband's Fiancée is the first book I've read by Wendy Owen. From what I can tell she is a multi-genre author and this book is a Romantic Thriller.

Liz is in prison for a crime she maintains she did not commit. Her husband cheated on her after they went through a difficult time and then the woman ends up dead. No one wants to believe her.

One day she gets a visit from a stranger claiming to be her husband's fiancée, the thing is Liz and her husband are still married. This stranger, Evelyn, says she wants Liz to sign the divorce papers so everyone can move on with their life. Liz, desperate for anyone to listen to her side of the story agrees to sign, under one condition. Evelyn must hear Liz out.

Wendy set the plot up very well. We are taking down different paths and see-saw back and forth whether it was Liz or her husband that killed the mistress. Until little things start to nag at us during these visits with Evelyn. That's when we are start to say hmmmmm.

Is Evelyn who she claims to be? Is Liz really innocent? I look forward to the next book, My Wife's Secrets, which appears to be told from the husband's POV. Yes we are left with unanswered questions, but that's what a good book does, it keeps you guessing until the end when all is revealed.

The narration was performed by Whitney Dykhouse and she did an excellent job. She made it very easy to differentiate between Liz and Evelyn during the scenes together.

Audio ARC provided by The Next Step PR and I decided to leave an honest review.

A twisty, mind bending ride!

This book. Oh man, this book. It seriously messed with my head! Liz is in prison for the murder of her husband’s mistress. She’s been there for about a year, when a woman shows up to visit her - her husband’s new fiancee, who is looking to get her to sign divorce papers so they can get married. But Liz didn’t kill her husband’s mistress, and she just needs someone to tell her story to, to try and get someone to listen and maybe help her. So she makes Evelyn a deal - come back, listen to my story, and then I’ll sign the papers.

Switching between current events and the flashback telling of Liz’s story, this book really throws in some intriguing and captivating twists. By the time we get to the end of the book, there are so many questions, and then a big twist, and the whole thing just blows up. I won’t be going into more detail than that, because I think this is one of those books you need to experience to really, truly enjoy it. Needless to say, when I realized this was book one of a duet, I am DYING for book two, like NOW!!!
