Neil Dudgeon: Audible Sessions

I believe the interview to be insightful to the making of a mystery movie and an audible session.

Enjoyed

I found the interview very interesting. I have watched every episode of midsummer mystery and Neil adds a lot of class to the show. I look forward to listening to Neil in the Cherringham mysteries. He made a comment on people liking English murder stories, and I totally agree. They are the only ones I watch.

Fun interview

Fun interview, however Neil's voice faded in and out slightly so it was a little distracting to listen to.

Interesting glimpse at the process

Good interview with Neil. Loved hearing about recording the Cherringham series and of course I’m a Midsomer watcher as well. His comments about the total package aspect of voice acting versus regular acting were interesting. He does such a great job in Cherringham I forget that it’s just one person voicing the story. I will forever imagine him with a guttering candle in a dark cubby doing Cherringham! :D

Neil Dudgeon made me a believer

Great little interview with Neil Dudgeon.
Being a massive fan of both Midsomer Murders and John Nettles, I did not take kindly to Neil replacing him as the new lead character, and the two first series with Neil at the helm were indeed far below par. It actually made me stop watching MM for some time...but when I started to rewatch the whole show from the beginning a couple of years ago, I found that the most annoying thing about the entire show, is the Ben Jones character. Even when he is with John Nettles, he gets on my nerves.
It makes it somewhat clearer why Neil Dudgeon had a rather hard time finding his feet in series 14 & 15.
However, from series 16 I was completely back in love with the show. The chemistry between John Barnaby and Charlie Nelson is sparkling, and I consider Nelson one of the three best sergeants on the show.
More than anything though, it was Neil Dudgeon's great acting in defining John Barnaby as a character, that turned me back into fandom...no small feat indeed.
Loved how he, in this interview, compared being talked about as a possible new lead in MM, to being talked about as possibly the next James Bond.

Interesting~

Loved this interview. I've enjoyed Dudgeon's work for many years but I didn't know he did narration work. i saw his name listed for this tiny audio about murder in Cherringham, and i recognized his name as an excellent actor, listened to the sample, and I was hooked, both on the stories and his narration. Perfect pairing. I liked hearing about this beginnings in school. It's fun to know how a young person chooses to work in drama and school plays can be fun and very interesting to young people, and can lead to a fulfilling career as it has for Dudgeon.

He talked about some of his favorite mystery writers and I think he included Michael Connelly. He happens to be one of my favorites. I've read every book and look forward to the one that is about to be released later this year. I like the Harry Bosch books that are narrated by the actor Titus Welliver - how great it would be if Dudgeon did one of the Bosch series. It's great to know the narrator's work in acting. Actors know how to narrate. It's a joy to be read to by great actors. Thanks for the great narrations~~
