Publisher's summary

Mr. Darcy is ready to propose on the night of his friend's ball at Netherfield. His ardent admiration for Elizabeth Bennet has grown to consume him and he must have her for his wife. However, within moments after his proposal, he is mortified by Miss Elizabeth's refusal. He is on one knee, struggling to comprehend how his glorious night has gone so disastrously wrong, when Mrs. Bennet finds them.

Elizabeth cannot budge Mrs. Bennet's insistence that she marry the abominable, proud Mr. Darcy. He has treated her friend Mr. Wickham with such cruelty, her family with repugnance and disdain, and seeks to find fault in Elizabeth at every turn. However, with her mother's decree that she is to be thrown out of Longbourn if she does not marry Mr. Darcy and - worse - the happiness of two of her sisters on the line, Elizabeth decides to give the abominable Mr. Darcy one more chance.

Netherfield Proposal is a full-length, sweet, and clean romance novel exploring the trials and tribulations of Darcy and Elizabeth. Mr. Darcy and his Elizabeth must face misunderstandings, prejudice, and scandal as they seek to find an understanding with one another.

Fantastic retelling!

I loved this story. I loved how the author remained true to the original, while spinning a fresh new tale of “what if...?” The reader was fantastic as well, and I’m super picky about audiobook readers! She had a great voice with perfect inflections and did really well differentiating between characters.

Charming return to Longbourn

Netherfield Proposal is a captivating return to Longbourn and the world of Pride & Prejudice. It answers so many "what if" questions and provides alternate romances, plot twists and character development. Davies understands Austen's humor and employs that throughout the novel, however, Netherfield Proposal leaves out at least one beloved secondary character from the original story and leaves the listener wondering how this variation effects their happily ever after. Ella Lynch narrates the story beautifully.

loved!

I really enjoyed this book, I've read several sequels but this was my first variation and it was fun to see what could have happened had the characters made slightly different choices.

Only So-So

The narration was the only thing that kept me listening. Wonderful narration.

The story, on the other hand, was one of the most boring P&P variations I've come across. The interpretations of these well-known characters were so severe and unforgiving. Charles lacked his playfulness. Lizzy was so demure and weak. Darcy was unceasingly cold, even with the two women who soften him most, Lizzie and Georgiana. It was hard to feel the love between Lizzy and Darcy.

So lame and not satisfying in the least!

The story is so stupid. I love love P&P Variations but do yourself a favor and save your forehead from being smacked by the palm of your hand and read something by Abigale Reynolds. The story was dumb, the characters, especially Georgianna are mind-numbingly dumb, it’s seriously the most painful read. The narrator only compounds the issue with her weird reading of certain character’s dialogue. Bingley sounds like a jerk the way she reads his lines. Just horrible.Rub, don’t walk away from this book!

Waste of a book.

Interesting premise and that is all. Meandering and silly, narration was terrible, the male voices all sounded smarmy and similar. Save your money.
