Publisher's summary

Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet have suffered profound heartache in the 14 years since parting in Lambton when word of Lydia's folly reached her family. At the age of 40, Darcy is now a widower raising a teenage daughter, whilst Elizabeth, a spinster, has spent the intervening years in service.

Unexpectedly thrown into each other's company by circumstances not of their making, has time stood still when it comes to matters of the heart? Can their timeless love survive the newest obstacles to their happiness?

After fourteen years…

This is a JAFF that covers everything of Darcy and Lizzy. The story line is not the kind that throws in event after event, but with very detailed description of every character, every scene set-up in the plot. And the dialogues are delicious. Even the epilogue provides a very satisfying report of the future we would like to know as readers, just like Jane Austen used to tell her niece and sister about the fate she designed for her characters; and that builds up a solid world for the book.
Brenda’s stories never disappoint, and so does Stevie’s performance.
I have enjoyed this audiobook very very much. Highly recommended.

Wonderful story, hateful characters

I thought this was a wonderful story, but some of the characters in it made me want to choke them and slap the taste out of their mouths.

A story of second chances!

Darcy and Elizabeth meet 14 years after Lydia elopes with Wickham.. Darcy had tried to save Lydia but couldn't as he met with an accident while on the way to do so.. he stays away from Elizabeth believing she would hate him for his failure to protect Lydia.
Fate brings them together when Elizabeth who has gone into service becomes governess to Col Fitzwilliam/ now lord Matlock 's children
There is an evil OW intent on capturing a disinterested Darcy, she creates many obstacles, although the main obstacles Frankly was ODC's tendency to assume and their insecurities... but all the obstacles were met head on by the erstwhile Colonel :)
One wishes everyone had a cousin so steadfast and kind.. he was a true star ! The most loveable character in the story
Ms Zimmerman's narration was perfection, she does so many accents and voices so consistently 😍

Something i would have wanted differently... Iwould have preferred a lesser time gap before the ODC met again and some more interactions between them before they resolved their differences. I maybe the only one here but I would have also liked to know what became of Lydia 😀

Fantastic

The story starts 14 years after Lizzy gets Jane’s letter about Lydia and from there everything changes from canon. It is an emotional journey that thankfully ends very well but there were several big bumps, hiccups and misunderstandings along the way. I agree with others that thankfully for Col Fitzwilliam (granted he now has his father’s title) realized what was going on and made it his mission for the two of them to just talk and clear up any misconceptions and mercifully it worked. Stevie Zimmerman hit this one out of the ballpark again as she was able to gently age our favorite characters and bring them to life. I hope that Brenda Webb will have more of her stories narrated.

Good things come to those who wait!

It is said that ‘good things come to those who wait’—even if it’s not their choice! Fourteen years of lost love is the result that follows an effort on Darcy’s part to help Elizabeth’s family. An accident and injury, along with preconceived notions on the part of our dear couple keeps them separated for so long. Just as they encounter one another again and agree to be together, others will plot to keep them apart. Sighhh. Thank goodness for the new Earl of Matlock! An excellent story filled with good dialogue, performed and narrated by the very popular and extraordinarily talented Stevie Zimmerman, and accented by a touch of angst will keep you listening from beginning to end. I stayed up until after two in the morning until I finished. I couldn’t stop listening!

‘Good things come to those who wait’ has a second meaning for this book, as does ‘wishes really do come true’. Readers of this wonderful author, Brenda J. Webb, have been hoping for an audiobook from her for some time. I hope this is the first of many. This book is definitely worth a credit and your time. I highly recommend it.

Totally awesome

I was so happy to see this story in audible. I own all of Ms. Webb's stories about Darcy & Elizabeth on kindle and have read each story several times. They are books you just can't put down once you start reading them. I will more then likely listen to this story again and again over time. (at least until the next book from Ms. Webb is put on audible ,lol)

I totally love Stevie Zimmerman as a reader of Pride and Prejudice variations(I own almost every P&PV that she reads) she has the characters down to a science, you could not ask for a better reader.

As to this story, it is everything you would expect in a P&P story. Dislike, misunderstanding, a little adventure, hope, forgiveness, love and finally HEA. What I like best about Ms. Webb's stories is they are far from a retelling of the original P&P. Oh, you will recognize the characters, it's just you will be going on a totally different adventure to find ever-lasting love. There will be moments of sadness, fear, laughter, cheer and finally happiness.

14 years is a long time to find love, Darcy can be such a butt at times (Elizabeth is no better). He just seems to be so reserved and in his disappointment he marries someone else; need I say more. Because of his stubbornness, he loses out of his HEA and only achieves it later in life. This is what happens here. Life is not all roses and this story details that and in the end shows there can be true love and understanding amount two mature adults if they are just welling to finally sit down and talk honestly with one another; with of course the help of true friends.

Thank you Ms. Webb for a great story and Ms. Zimmerman for reading it.

Lovely JAFF

A perfect addition to some of my favorites. After the Lydia debacle Lizzy and Darcy go in different directions, until a span of 14 years and lots of angst bring them together. All the characters are true to the canon, and the eventual HEA, and especially their wedding night, is befitting a couple that had loved each other for years.
And of course Stevie Zimmerman is a perfect narrator - in my minds eye she is the voice of both Elizabeth and Darcy. She brings them to life.
