About this listen

The 9th book in the New York Times bestselling Villains series tells the tale of the rise and fall of the infamous pirate, Captain Hook—a boy who grew up.

Before Peter Pan and Wendy. Before the Lost Boys. There was just a boy named James who wanted to get back to Neverland. As a baby, James Bartholomew fell out of his pram and was taken to Neverland. James is claimed by his parents just shy of seven days—after which he would have officially become a Lost Boy. Once he returns to London, he never stops thinking about Neverland. As he grows up, he hates his life in London, and everything to do with growing up and eventually becoming a gentleman. So he seeks a position on the ship of the infamous pirate, Blackbeard. On Blackbeard's ship he learns to be a cutthroat pirate, and eventually becomes captain of his own ship, which James is determined to sail to Neverland. With the help of the Odd Sisters and a bit of magic, he just might get his wish. But returning to Neverland comes at a price—and now that he's grown up, the whole world seems to be rooting for his demise…

Surprisingly ending

The ending was closer to the Grimm‘s brother interpretation of the events. This was so good! I actually had to rewind the ending chapter just to make sure that I heard that right! So good!

Never Really liked Peter Anyway

I always thought Peter Pan was the villan. Hook just wanted to be Peter's friend and never grow up either Hook just wanted to be an innocent child playing forever while Pete never cared about anyone or anything other than his own amusement

Wow!

As usual this book was really good! There were a lot of eye openers in this one! The odd sisters! Ugh… the odd sisters lol… they are a weird combination of pure evil n somewhat good. Almost as if they are walking the line of good and evil (leaning more so to the evil side than good lol but there’s still some good in them.) The question I have is why they choose the ppl they choose to turn into villains? They literally drive this ppl to the point of insanity n than boom you have your villain! And what’s sad is they all try to fight it… well everyone except the beast hahaha.

Neverland’s Shadows: A Tale of Twists and Triumphs

I am absolutely enchanted by Serena Valentino's Villains series and the captivating Odd Sisters. These misfit witches have become some of my all-time favorite characters, brimming with humor, chaos, and unmatched charm. Their stories are nothing short of a masterclass in imagination and storytelling, and I cannot express how much joy and inspiration they’ve brought me.

The Odd Sisters evoke the same timeless magic I’ve always cherished in iconic trios like the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus. Their delightful insanity, razor-sharp wit, and deeply layered personalities are a testament to Valentino's genius. Each book in this series is like a beautifully crafted spell, weaving together the threads of classic fairytales with a touch of dark mischief. The seamless connections between these stories leave me in awe—it's a literary standing ovation, truly!

I don’t want these tales to end. I long for more adventures with the Odd Sisters and their wonderfully meddlesome ways. The idea of them having their own corner of a Disney park or starring in their own movie gives me chills in the best way. Imagine a land of the dead brought to life at a Disney park—pure brilliance!

Thank you, Serena Valentino, for this extraordinary gift. Your attention to detail, creativity, and passion shine through every page, and I’ll be singing the praises of these books to anyone and everyone. They deserve all the love and recognition. I truly hope this isn’t the end for the Odd Sisters, because I’d happily follow them into whatever chaos they conjure next!
