About this listen

The first book in a new young adult line that asks listeners: What if classic Disney fairy tales had happened a little bit differently?

When Jafar steals the genie's lamp, he uses his first two wishes to become sultan and the most powerful sorcerer in the world. Agrabah lives in fear, waiting for his third and final wish. To stop the power-mad ruler, Aladdin and the deposed Princess Jasmine must unite the people of Agrabah in rebellion. But soon their fight for freedom threatens to tear the kingdom apart in a costly civil war.

What happens next? A "street rat" becomes a leader. A princess becomes a revolutionary. And listeners will never look at the story of Aladdin in the same way again.

Really Loved it :D

to be honest I was kind of reluctant to read this book after I saw so many low ratings on it .. but I decided to see my views on it since I like Aladdin so much .. and I'm so glad that I did .. the story was well written and it gave so much depth to the story to each of our beloved characters especially Genie .. oh man I love this guy and he was even more adorable in this book
the narrator did a very good job narrating the characters but he might need some improvements .. but good job overall I liked the book and enjoyed it so much :)

Great for Aladdin fans

The truth is this book isn’t your classic tale. It’s twisted, as the title suggests. If Abu never took the lamp back from Jafar, what would happen? Here, we discover a version of that possibility. It’s well-written, if not a little far fetched. Cronin does what he always does, brings the book to life. While I would suggest this to friends, there were things I’d have preferred make more sense. Not a huge fan of the ending as it’s a little more grim than I’d hoped. Being a fan of Grimdark, I can accept it. Others, perhaps not.

I love Aladin

the narrator was very good . extremely easy to understand and had some good choices for the voices.
the storyline followed the original very nicely and was well thought out.
I was hoping for a different ending however, it is refreshing from time to time to have the unexpected occur. overall I enjoyed the book, but I do not think I would read it again.

Movie in my head.

I LOVE that this story is twist on the Disney story. While I'm reading, it's like the movie is playing in my head. And I can actually see, actually picture the characters. I love this series. I gave 4 stars, because sometimes the story is a little bit ridiculous and sometimes it's difficult to follow.

It was ok

I had a hard time paying attention to the story, and found myself rewinding to hear things that i missed. The narrator did well with Jafar’s voice, but the others were very monotone and boring.

Great story!

Narrator was great; the story ebbed and flowed very well. Couldn’t wait to turn the “proverbial” page.

Loved it

Huge Aladdin fan so not surprising that I found it. Great narrator and the plit definitely was an intriguing way of spinning the story. Loved how real the characters came across. Jasmine was writen as she was meant to be, strong and fierce. Aladdin was happy go lucky and clever as always. Loved the addition of characters, just sad about Genie's part.
