About this listen

This special collection of prose and poetry was created by survivors of sexual discrimination and/or abuse. These pieces were written specifically for audio and present a range of emotion, including anger. For too long, victims have been told to be quiet, to keep a secret, to be ashamed, to be blamed, and we now say No More. It is time to speak. It is time to form a chorus of voices that demand change, and encourages others to action.

Edited by Tanya Eby. Assistant Editor: Karen White. Post production and original music by Amanda Rose Smith.

Written by: Em Jae, E., Deepti Gupta, Suzanne Barbetta, Dee, Samantha MacLeod, Bronwyn Green, Rachel Fulginiti, Mary Caroline Smith, Jackie Rosenfeld, Tor Thom, Francesca Amari, Charlotte, Samantha Greene, Rachel Wisley, K.E. Loved, lack of space between stories was jarring

Really interesting audio book. The stories are so varied...from men and women. Many of the authors narrated their own material (which was poignant) but those that weren't were narrated by talented, believable voice actors. I too had to stop and start due to the gravity of the stories.

My one discomfort/complaint with the audiobook was that the stories were edited so tightly together that they almost seemed like one story. I wasn't able to "close" or settle my mind on one story before the next began. Stopping at the end of one story so you could digest it was impossible. I'm wondering now whether that was intentional, maybe to reflect the ever present issues related to the welding of power? Not sure.

Heartwrenching & Inspirational Stories...

#MeToo - The variety and intensity of this chorus of voices is incredibly moving in ways that both inspire and perhaps, trigger...I took them in slowly and often only one at a time. Some gave me an honestly visceral reaction - others pulled up memories long forgotten. This is a hard, but oh so very important listen. The stories are truthful, well balanced, and performed with skill. Take your time with these tellings, but do give them your time as they all deserve to be heard.
