About this listen

She’s determined to find her father’s killer....

FBI agent Toni Long lost her father a year ago when he was killed in a joint FBI and ICE investigation led by Clay Byrd, a man Toni had found herself infatuated with. Unfortunately, the killer escaped, and if Toni hadn’t been distracted by her attraction to Clay, maybe her father wouldn’t have died. When she receives an anonymous tip on the killer’s identity, she follows the lead and an attempt is made on her life. Clay, having received the same tip, comes to her rescue. Thinking he can help find her father's killer and keep an eye on her safety too, he quickly offers Nighthawk Security’s help.

But she first has to face down her own dark past.

She fights the idea at first, but she will stop at nothing to find her father’s killer, even if it means partnering with a guy she has feelings for. But as the investigation unfolds, they unearth deep, dark family’s secrets that are more dangerous than anything Toni could imagine. Problem is, Clay is right there by her side, offering her comfort and support, and protecting her from menacing danger. She soon has to fight feelings she’s developing for him when her focus should be on the investigation and staying alive.

Excellent all the way through!

Book 2 disappointed me a bit but Susan Sleeman came back with a punch in this book! Great job! And the narrator is easy to listen to. She also does a great job!

Great suspense novel

Great suspense story filled with action, intrigue and a touch of romance. Definitely my favorite in the series so far, although all of the stories have been incredible.

Danger, Suspense and Love

Another Night Hawk suspense and a unsuspecting villan mystery. Guarded emotions in a difficult scene. Safety in the promise of love and a future.

Heroines need variety

I liked this story. It had twist and turns , action , message of strong family values and faith. I dont necessarily like reading about human trafficing or child abuse but it is a topic that has to be brought to likght and addressed. The biggest problem that I have with the stories in this series is that the females will be painted as strong and capable but then act like teenagers with all the teenage angst when it comes to love. In this area they are insecure and winey and like i said, angsty. i would love the author to change this

Love the Byrds

The Byrd clan is back. This story deals with the very sad & evil sex trade. Like all of Ms. warren’s stores, there is plenty of comic relief throughout the book. Most importantly: God is there every step of the way!

enjoyable Christian Romance/Crime

I have enjoyed this series so far. I like the Bird family and the scrapes they work though. Always a twist I didn't see coming even when the ground work for it is laid out. Can't wait for the next book in the series.

Wonderful series with indepth research.

Really have enjoyed the Byrd series so far. Each book brings to light truly important problems in our society and covers them with insight and loving relationships.
Looking forward to ‘Drake’s’ story.

Too Much Detail of human trafficing

she always tells a good story, but in this, I could not really keep up with the it. I am sensitive about sexual assault and violence, and do not usually read stories containing it. but with her, I am used to more talk of the relationships between the characters. while there was some talk of the family, it was overshadowed by the violence being perpetrated against young girls. By the time my mind recovered from trying not to imagine the difficulties those girls faced, I missed part of the story. And I did not want to go back because of the subject matter. Again I am super sensitive and should have skipped this book completely. I did not even read the overview, because I generally love her books. So I was caught off guard. The only reason I am writing this review is so others can be warned if the are super sensitive like me. I know these things happen but I don't read about them for fun. I am saying this knowing other books can be much more graphic.
