About this listen

On September 1, 1939, the Germans invaded Poland, setting off a rising storm of violence and destruction. This was the start of World War Two. For Anna and Jan Kopernik, the loss is unimaginable. Anna's father is deported to a death camp, and Anna must flee to Belgium where she joins the Resistance.

Meanwhile, Jan escapes with the battered remnants of the Polish army to Britain. When British intelligence asks him to return to Poland on an underground mission to contact the Resistance, Jan seizes the chance to search for his missing wife.

A great listen

I really enjoyed this audible book. I was not familiar with all the partisan resistance in Belgium. At first listen I disliked Ian fishers narration. Too abrupt or rough just something I didn’t like. But he grew on me and I can’t imagine anybody else narrating a book I ended up loving him. The dedication of people to their homeland was so Important in winning the war. The Americans British Polish Belgium during this time in history were truly the greatest generation

Fantastic!

I have read and listened to many WW2 era novels. This is one of the best! Great narration, excellent storyline and delivery.
