Publisher's summary

Recovering nice guy Paul Coughlin points the way for all men who yearn to live lives of boldness and conviction - like Jesus. Using anecdotes from his own life, powerful and poignant stories, and vivid examples from our culture, Coughlin shows how men can say no to the "nice guy" syndrome and yes to lives of purpose, passion, and vitality.

In this revised and expanded edition, Coughlin adds vital insights on the changes he's seen in churches and the greater culture in the decade since No More Christian Nice Guy was first published. This radical and hopeful message elevates the true biblical model of manhood and now includes testimonials from men and women whose lives have been altered by this book. Coughlin also looks at the shifting expectations men face in relationships and in the workplace and how younger Christians in particular are subject to harmful views about masculinity. Part inspiration, part instruction, and part manifesto, this book gives men the courage to move from passivity to assertiveness.

Fundamentally transformational

Absolutely epic in its details of how to put off the old man who rolled over thinking he was doing God a favor…!

Like many others here, this book saved my life

Thank you, Paul, for the wisdom, experience, and teachings you shared in this book. For so long, I had only dreamed of being the kind of man that actively resists evil, thinking I had to temper that burning desire to be "godly," but you helped me to see that this is exactly the kind of man my God is looking for.

The Christ wasn't a Gay hippie on a cloud

Very refreshing, given that most protestant leaning churches preach the nice, harmless, hairless, stained glass Jesus.

Deeply needed

Uprooting years of false thinking and training in being “nice” rather than “good”…beyond grateful. This is helping heal my soul.

Christian red pill

This book is pretty much the christian version of the red pill. Paul Coughlin brings up how the church has been increasingly feminized and how most men have lost their masculinity. Worth the listen for any church man that is often told he is a nice guy.

Great Book

Honestly one of the two best audiobooks I've listened to for the modern Christian man living in America today.

Water for my thirsty soul

I am now a recovering CNG. The contents of this book helped me free the part of me that I held captive for so long. It feels good to be free.

Called up, not called out.

I feel fired up to me the man God calls me to be and that’s not a passive wimpy “nice guy” or CNG as he refers to them. Very inspiring and practical.

I agree with 99% of what the author presented.

As a “positive” downside, I feel like it was too much good information for an audiobook. I caught myself stopping and having to rewind constantly because I would become engaged in reflection after a compelling statement and I would miss the next pertinent point. So… I ordered a paperback copy today.

Outstanding work.
