Publisher's summary

There are superheroes, and then there is Captain Nothing - ready to crack knuckles and break heads - no matter what the cost. Here are five truly unforgettable stories - three of them never seen or heard before - plus a behind-the-scenes afterword and a sneak preview of Apocalypse Nothing, Steve Vernon's upcoming Captain Nothing novella.

Each story is wild, brutal, honest, and surprisingly poignant. They include:

"The Indelible Skivvy Stains of Unbleached Regret" "Some of Us Make It" "Don't Bet on a Wet Horse" "Saint Valentine's Massacre" "The Tracks We Leave Behind"

Captain Nothing is back. And nothing is going to stop him.

Cult Classic (Vol one) Nothing To Lose

I loved the first volume in this series, Nothing To lose. Captain Nothing has a mask sewed on to his face. He is as poor as they come and has very little in morals. A lot of people are going to think he is just nasty, but there is lots of intelligence behind the cruder then crude language and crude situations. If you are a fan of South Park you will like this, if you don't like South Park, don't waste your money.

The first vol was a lot better then this vol. All the stories in vol one were stories, this has stories that are not really stories, just Capt Nothing preaching about his life style. There was one story that I would give five stars to, that story has a kelpie in it. I had never heard of a kelpie before, but it is in my dictionary.

I suggest you get Vol one and then based on how well you like that, you decide on vol 2. This will be an underground cult classic some day.

A hero of last resort

This isn’t your super hero tale of Superman, Batman, iron man etc. this isn’t even the tale of punisher, moon knight, dredd, etc. this isn’t the hero of sin city. This is the hero that lies in the gutter of these others. He is dark, he is gritty, he is foul mouthed, nasty and tough. This isn’t your average hero story. This is however the hero needed for the tales told. Not for kids. Not for those of weak constitutions or for those easily offended. If you are still here then enjoy the listen. I did. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher

Tries to be noir

The story is chock full of alliterations, gritty descriptions of genitalia and the masked nonhero who makes few captures. In fact, he aids larceny and the one captured ‘bad guy’ was actually due to another person. The dark descriptions of the hero show an individual who is homeless and penniless. I am impressed, however, with the number of descriptives the author manages without using the actual names of genitalia. No real plot noted, which knocks it out of a noir category.

Volume 2

Adventures of Captain Nothing Volume 1 was awesome, and volume 2 is just as awesome, In my opinion, Steve Vernon is a great writer, I like almost everything that he writes, if you have not yet discovered Steve, I would recommend that you do so. The narrating done by Dennis Serra is also very good. I received this audiobook for free at my request and I am voluntarily giving my unbiased review.
